Well area wise there's more room for the air to escape between the flame tube and outer shell than the area of the pipe but we'll see how it works in practice

Thats good , but remember the air hits the flametube square on at high speed , theres lottsa turbulence which then reduces the effectiveness of the flow area , hopefully it'll be OK

Lately I've been working on the plumbing and fuel system, I still need to make an oil reservoir and drill and tap for a drain then it should be ready to fire up. Problem is my truck needs a new transmission and axles and my "finish before it snows" list keeps getting longer and the snow keeps getting closer. Once I get the gas producer running it will be put on hold until winter, then I'll start on the power turbine and the hull

I just wanted to chime in and say this project isnt dead yet. My business is taking off and the turbine has moved shops with me twice so far but Ill keep working on it when I do have time. I had a bit of a lull in orders so I spent the past couple evenings working on it and its very close to a test fire. My fuel pump is working off an rc transmitter and my oil pump is working well enough to peg the oil pressure gauge. I have a bit of wiring left to do and it should be good to go. My question is what is the best way to spin up the compressor to get it started? Ive seen guys use a leafblower or shop air but that wont spin mine fast enough. Would a high speed brushless motor on the compressor nut work? Or maybe high pressure compressed nitrogen?

Very high pressure gas is probably the easiest way , though you need to refill bottles

Ive got a spare empty nitrogen tank I can try. Ill just get it filled at the welding shop for now and if it works ai might get one of those ebay 4500 psi compressors. Is it as simple as just pointing the unregulated stream at the compressor wheel?

Better if its fitted into the front of the comp housing to impact the larger diameter at a tangent, checkout Andies ibb.co/f0cPFf
