Hi Yes I know this project, it inspired me too I was looking foward to see him converting that engine into liquid fuel, but nothing:/ This engine was running on propane, my concern was if this design will work properly with kero or diesel. Now we have to figure it out Sven

Hi All, I did a test start today no luck. I have low oil pressure, i read up in the manual 80 to 110 PSI when engine is ruining but doesn't say what pressure on start up only it says is factory pre set if it doesn't reach the factory settings the oil pressure switch will not energize the igniter. youtu.be/-BgihEIN7-ACheers, Mark.

Hello, You should have 3-5 psi oil pressure to activate your fuel soleniod and ignitor. Do you hear your ignitor snapping? If you do you have fire.have you checked fuel pressure? Before starting it should read a minimum of 15 psi

Hi John, on starting the engine i have 20PSI oil pressure but i don't hear ignitor snapping. I have no fuel pressure at all. LOL one chap said you don't need a fuel pump just place the fuel tank high above the engine and someone else said i will need a fuel pump . Cheers, Mark..

Mark, Have you installed any fuel line Tees and/or guage before or after you fuel solenoid? If not, it is a very good idea to do so. It is a good way to confirm or eliminate several potential problems. You stated that you have 20psi Oil Pressure on cranking, that is a very good #for cranking speed. Have you take

Hi John, I only installed a fuel pressure guage on the front of the engine see pic, also when i got the engine the fuel solenoid wire was cut and the tips where strip so hook them back together don't know why they where apart . OK so the oil pressure is good for starting. John can you have a look at this wring diagram as i think this might be causing some problems, i had a chap draw this up for me. Thanks for you help. Cheers, Mark.. Attachments:

Hello Mark, 1.Am I correct in assuming this is a wiring diagram of your control box you made? 2.Could you get me a picture of your fuel solenoid and what you did to wiring? 3.Is there some kind of military data plate on the housing surrounding the turbine If there is I would like to get info off of it either through a picture or scribble something down.If you dont find a plate, there is one inside engine compartment, usually located near oil cooler I might be able to hunt down manuals for it or might possibly have,I have an extensive APU library.

Hi John, Yes i did make that control box. here are a pic of the fuel solenoid all i did to the wiring on the fuel solenoid was hook them together. also a pic of the data plate. I have a manual for the engine aswell mind is a GTP70-6 i was told there are some GTP70-9 that were built as well. One difference in them is one has these type of fuel nozzles see pics. Cheers, Mark.. Attachments:

Hello Mark, Sorry I havent got back to you lately i've been out of town Killing snowflakes. Mark I took a look at your entire thread very closely when i got home. The one thing that really struck me in a couple of pictures is that you do not have an electric fuel pump,or did I just not see it?I think in the Tech Manuals they call for 10-15 psi fuel pressure.I never got mine started on gravity feed alone, its pretty difficult to get air out of lines, and especially the fuel control.Just a thought John

Hi John, that's OK mate. Killing snowflakes . Yeah you are right the engine does call for 15 PSI fuel pressure, but when i open the fuel solenoid i get 25 PSI fuel pressure so i think I'll hook up a fuel pump and see how i go. Also got a chap who help me with the control panel, he is going to talk me through DE bugging the the panel next week over the phone should be fun to try and work this out . Cheers, Mark.

Hello Mark, Yeah Killing Snow Flakes.Snow machining in the Mountains, running them little flakes over......FUN FUN!!!!
When you mention you have 25psi fuel pressure, is that the pressure between fuel solenoid and injector nozzle?I it is that should darn near be enough to start turbine if you are getting spark. If you dont know if your getting spark pull one of ignitors, leave hooked up to lead and ground to engine, try start it to see if you have spark. Also if you are getting 25psi AFTER fuel solenoid pull 1 of your injectors to see if you have any kind fuel coming out. You know Mark if i knew enough about how to post pictures and drawings on this site.I could give you a quick and down and dirty drawing on how to bypass all your electrical components except for what the engine really needs to start.Very easy to do but dont know how to explain?I am such a crappy typer. When i start typing on computer my wife has to leave room she says its to painful to watch.......HA...HA....HA.I know how to do email attachments.
