Hi John,
Thanks for the information. Is it possible to remove the oil filter when the engine is filled up with oil?? So it's nice to have a spare engine, €400,- for a oiltank are outrageous prices. Are you looking for spec. parts, mayby I can help?
regards R

There is about a cup of oil in the filter housing and if the engine is upright then the sump is lower and it won't all siphon out. So a clean plastic container underneath is a still good idea if only that it lets you save some expensive oil!
The critical bits I'm searching for are the fuel pump/controller (HP-40TA) and the free-power overspeed limiter (PO-40T). I know one of them is definitely faulty on my engine as I have no H.P fuel at all in the FCU inspection gallery. I would love to get a proper oil tank and the locking collar to mount it on the engine as well. If you could help with any of those bits in any way that would be really great.
Cheers,
Jon

Sorry for the delay.. The engines were visited today. The poor things, in nice condition but lots of parts were missing, even the rotors of the startermotors?? There's a other guy in the netherlands that has these engines for sale. I'll be back

Hi Guys, It's been quiet on this thread the last year. I've been busy doing other things but has turned my focus back on this project. Have any of you had any progress? Is there any info with regards to instrumentation out there?

Hi Vidar,
Yes, mine is working again! It was the PO-40T free-turbine overspeed limiter that was faulty. I have managed to fix it although I would really like a spare.
I don't have a source for the Mi-2 instruments but I have found, by testing, that the tacho output is fully compatible with the gauge from an L-29 Delfin. I have a source for L-29 parts so let me know via PM if that would help you, the gauge is the wrong size/shape but it works.

Hello... new here so be gentle with me...
I have a GE t58-8F in an experimental aircraft that I have been flying for over 120 hrs. I have been looking for a Turboprop set up for a new experimental aircraft. RR250 is ideal but cant find one for a reasonable price... came across the GTD-350 and just starting to look into it.
There are some available for under 4K from Europe but needless to say, I dont know what I would be getting... supposedly, with logs, about a 1000 hrs and all accessories and again, supposedly in running condition.
If anyone can help with some questions, I will be grateful.
I understand these are a bit heavier than the 250, but I have heard they are build a bit more stout also... comments?
The other question for now, is on the fuel consumption. the figures I am seeing don't make any sense to me... either these have the highest consumption of anything out there or I am seeing something wrong. my 1250 SHP T58 burns at 100% of N1 at Sea level, around 125 GPH which matches to the published numbers of about .64 Lb/HP/Hr... I am reading around 3500 to 400 gallons per hr on specs for the GTD350 but it does not distinguish at what power setting.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Jetpack I think the Wiky en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klimov_GTD-350 figure of 365 g/hp/hr means grams/hp/hr , .365 X 400 hp = 146 kg/hr X 2.2 = 321 lbs/hr div by 400 hp = 0.8 lbs/hp /hr , not quite as good as the RR250 which is in the ~0.65 lbs/hp/hr Hope this helps Cheers John

Hello It`s been awhile since there has been any activity on this thread, but I am contemplating fitting a GTD-350 to an experimental engine. A previous poster was looking at doing the same thing, so feedback would be appreciated. Also, I would love to visit Cursorkeys (Jon)`s website. Can anyone direct me there, please? Any Australian builders have any experience with this engine? I would love to her from you. All the good and the bad news will be appreciated. Thanks, Erik in Oz.

John, I am re-commissioning a BD4 experimental 4-seater aeroplane. I want to configure it into a Pilatus Porter copy. Would you know perhaps of someone that would have a GTD-350 in Oz that might be for sale? I can get one from USA, but local is better. A Garret 331 might also work. Regards, Erik.

Hi Erik
An interesting project :-)
Sourcing virtually any turbines here in Oz is problematic , we're a long way from everywhere and our "market" is so small , I think sourcing from OS is going to provide better outcomes both from numbers as well as types , it's the reason why I've stuck to my homebuilt stuff using turbo bits, less complications..............I wish you well with the build .
Cheers John

Thank you, John. You don`t perhaps have the website address for the poster called "cursorkeys", do you? Higher up in this thread, someone mentioned that he has some very interesting stuff on it. I would like to have a look at it. Regards, Erik.
