Hi Chris
An interesting set of numbers :-)
I just thought I'd check the KTS Catalogue , their GTX5544R comp wheel with the 106 mm inducer, KTS MFS P/N 5491 has the same 1/2" left hand thread as the GT6041 turbine wheel , now that would make a nice combo .
Cheers John

I have some exciting news...well, at least for those of us that really enjoy digging into the engineering of radial turbomachinery. There is a soon to be released book on centrifugal compressors authored by Michael Casey and Chris Robinson of PCA Engineers Limited and published by Cambridge Press. The listing is here: www.cambridge.org/us/academic/subjects/engineering/thermal-fluids-engineering/radial-flow-turbocompressors-design-analysis-and-applications?format=HBIf you are into centrifugal compressor design, you will recognize these experts in the field and I have very high hopes for this book. Cambridge Press seems to be the current leader in publishing useful books and has really put out some excellent texts as of late. Casey and Robinson often have some really interesting approaches to explain the flow physics and I am really looking forward to seeing how they walk through the design process. Another text that is very good on centrifugal compressor design that has been out a few years now is "Design and Analysis of Centrifugal Compressors" by Rene Van der Braembussche. It is a ASME and Wiley joint publication and it covers all the relevant topics pretty well. Braembussche is a legend in the field and the book is pretty thorough. It is slightly heavy on the mathematics in the early portions, but there are very good sections discussing the experimental and applicational data in diffusers and volutes, impeller passage parameters, etc., that will be easily accesible to those who might not be as interested in the calculations as I am. More to come...hopefully in June... Chris

Hi Chris
Now that looks like a text I'd be interested in getting my hands on , I've read a number of their Papers , a couple of bright fellows

Well, it is finally here! I got my copy of Michael Casey and Chris Robinson's new book on centrifugal compressors and it is excellent as expected. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in diving further into the theory involved in the design of centrifugal compressor systems. I had fun comparing my notes on the impact of lean, rake, backsweep and shroud profiles that I have built up over the years from reading technical papers and patents, to the descriptions that these experts provide. I was pleasantly surprised that my assessment from my research trended well with their advice. The level of the book definitely leans to the graduate or practicing engineering level, but they do an excellent job discussion the theories/information in the text and if the reader was to just skip the equations, they would still be able to grasp the information. In the subject of compressors, I have to rank this book up there with Cumpty's book. I would suggest this book for centrifugal compressors above Baine's and Japiske's book, unless the reader is non-technical and wanting to use the equations, which then I will still suggest Japiske's book for the easy presentation of the equations and their use. Can't wait to really dig into this and I hope other interested readers get their hands on it too. - Chris

Added it to my Amazon cart, went to add japiske's book, but it was $500. So far every book you've mentioned has been awesome. The history of automotive gas turbine book is a special piece.

Glad to hear that you enjoy the books as much as me. Yeah, that auto gas turbine book is a real gem that can usually be nabbed for cheap. Try to get the Japiske book straight from the source...try getting it here, much cheaper. www.conceptsnrec.com/solutions/training/textbooks- Chris

Wow, so many great books. Now if only I was smart enough to learn all the maths lol.
