With a potential for 80 hp in a lightweight vehicle like a kart , I don't think you'll have too many problems .
You won't have any power below ~50% N1 but HP build quickly from there , so maybe think of it as a very highly tuned 2 stroke race bike .
Years ago there was a bike fitted with a small APU that ran thru a multispeed gearbox and it worked OK, the guy simply grafted the APU output into the "cannibalised" bike gearbox , it was a tad difficult getting off the mark as it required a hand full of rpm , but once underway it worked .
Fitting it into a kart will be easier than a bike as theres more "flexibility" of design due to the greater space available .
