The outer tips of the turbine are 110mm I recently checked with the vernier's so you think I may get in the 200lb Regan is that with a afterburner?. No...I'm guessing maybe 185-ish with A/B.....but that's still not too bad. John may have a better idea on the calculations than myself though.... The biggest issue with the AB is getting it to work well, a lot of work is needed to get the pipe to the correct length, size OD and volume.....flame holder, spray ring.....in the right spots etc..AB pump volumes and pressures also need to be just so. As John mentioned, you need to get your gas producer running at it's best before even thinking of bolting an AB system. Smithy.

What John said....originally mine was designed by John with "evap tubes", but they tended to burn out quite easily....so I converted it to a "modified" single spray nozzle from a Rolls-Royce C20B turbine engine, works fine thus far and requires much less maintenance/repair than the evap tubes. Mine does start on straight fuel but can be a bit hit 'n miss and temperamental untill up to temperature, so I tend to start and "pre-heat" on propane.

With your impeller being ~100mm, you'll be looking at ~150lbs of static thrust. My 106mm engine runs a little higher than that be not a great deal....running wet, my 6041 pulls a healthy 200lbs plus.
Acceleration will be nothing like a wheel driven machine though...no comparison really....however, top speed may indeed be higher with the non-wheel driven beast as there's no speed/rpm restriction on turbine or sprocket-chain to contend with.

Hi John, Long time since I have updated this thread....nothing much has changed apart from my battery/power supply setup, nothing special but am using an old motorcycle battery to run most of the onboard electrics, a 6cell Li-Po for the igniter and another 6cell Li-Po for the main fuel pump.
John, I have been invited and am intending to go to the Newcastle go-kart track again this year for the charity car/bike show. You're more than welcome to come along if you so choose.

Got her fired up last night and had forward motion for the first time had it tied off but the first time it ran I got it running on diesel and a little bit of throttle the thing wanted to launch big time I suddenly didn't trust the rope much so I shut her down.its going to take some getting used to its a little scary to be honest she's got some power. I hear ya champ, my GT6041 powered machine gets plenty angry when the power comes on, then the A/B just makes things crazy....can easily push two 20liter drums of water along the ground .....and it tries to jump a pair wheel chocks too.....John and myself had a bit of a chuckle at it after a run one day in Newcastle. I have elements of the RR250 C20B chamber in my GT6041 powered go-kart...seems to work fine.

The placement of your Primary holes is important , with my evap systems such as the GT60 jetandturbineowners.proboards.com/attachment/download/178 you'll notice pairs of holes at the top of the FT that discharge across the outlet of each evap tube. Further down the FT there are largish holes centred between evap tubes , those Primary holes have been "bent", using a punch inserted into them, to orientate the hole so that it discharges up between the tubes to produce recirculation . To shorten the burning process we need to mix the fuel and air as quickly as possible , and in such a large diameter FT care will need to be taken with hole placement to achieve that objective . Yep...if you follow John's advice....you won't go far wrong, he's helped everybody on this forum get their engines running. He's a definite asset to this group and well respected in DIY turbine circles "World Wide".
