What did you mean speaking about sizes? KKK didn't give any information about trim and A/R...How I can figure what dimension it have? Thanks a lot! I'd use it as is , the turbine flow might be controlled by a "tight" scroll housing , without knowing the exact sizes its difficult to say if its a usable turbo , but generally diesel turbos work OK ..............yep , no problems with surge :-)

Hi Have you checked this Site for info www.turbomaster.info/catalogos/kkk.phpIf the turbine scroll is "small" the gases impacting the wheel will be at very high speeds creating enough power to spin the comp with minimal contribution from the gas deflection in the large wheel . Cheers John

Cheers John I found it in the site! Mine it is the K26-2664GA/6.51 5326-988-6482, they indicate an A/R of 6... But... What does it mean precisely?

I haven't any idea what "6" is , but looking at the rest of the K26 turbos , your "6" is an average/common size with few smaller sizes , but a lot of much larger sizes , so we could assume your scroll is "tight"

Yes, at the eye the ratio between the exducer and the scroll seems to be just ""normal"", maybe a little small, since the wastegate take a part of the hot side. I try with this. In the worst case I have the option of using the T2, with similar dimensions and same flange size!

Looking in my mess to find something useful as an oil tank, i see some throw-away CO2 bottles (I use them for welding). In the past I used some of them for various work, and maybe one can be my oil tank.
But maybe it is too small, it is about 0.85l. I also have an oil cooler bought some time ago, can the oil system contain only about one liter of oil? I have no idea of how many heat oil have to dissipate to remain cool (I mean "cool" if it stays between 80/110°c, like in the engine from where the turbo comes). I can also couple two bottles but if it is useless I prefeer to avoid complications 😁

A liter of oil is probably getting a bit small even with an oil cooler

After about two hour of NMC (Neuronal Manual Control 😂) machining, I have done the oil filter support (and a mess of chips everywhere, one hour for cleaning my micro-garage). Now I have to thread it to receive the M16x1.5 part for the oil filter 😊

Today I made the thread on the filter support and I make the hole in the threaded rod for the oil, I screwed it in the support with a drip of thread locker and put it togheter with the filter. Then I milled the turbine inlet flange from a piece of 304 stainless steel. Just a little bit harder than 6068 aluminum, but I have the right tools. I started making the flange in square, I flattened one side with my trusty DIY fly-cutter, then I do the 10mm radius with two pass with drill bits (8.5mm and 18mm) and the finish with a 20mm Z4 HSS-Co mill. Then I milled the flat of the inside with a 14mm Z5 roughing mill. I found it as a great tool with my mini-mill, it is a IZAR mill for stainless, it cut the 304 like butter with about no vibration (if someone was searching for a good quality/price end mill). Next week I return to job after two months and half. I have to restart working on serious stuff after doing chips with my little machine! 😁 I also added a pic of my messy and small workshop...

Thinking about the oil tank, I think I can use the big one I made for the HX60 project. I can't remember well, but maybe it has a 2.5/3 liter volume. It is made from thick steel, so it is quite heavy, but it is ready to use.
When I go to my parent after christmas I have to pick up it...with some other stuff like stainless piping, the Garrett T2 turbo, thermocouples, some high temperature rubber hose, etc. Tomorrow if I can find the time to do it, I want to mill some other stuff.

Today I machined the support base for all the hydraulic system. In a single block I connect the manometers (the one for the combustor pressure is missing), it supports also the pressure switch for the oil system, the LPG solenoid valve (missing in the photo) and the LPG needle valve. I made it from a brass scrap part I collect some years ago. It is a little bit heavy, but since is leaded brass it is simple to machine, and having a 6mm hole deep 100mm it is the best choice between the materials I have at home 😉

This week I return to the job after over two months and half at home because of the broken leg.
I asked to the boss if I can weld my parts at job, and he say me that there's no problem. They have a TIG welder but they never used it, they bought it together with a lot of things as stock from the previous owners of the half of the shed we occupy now, after his foreclosure. Then I asked if I can pay them to bought an Argon cylinder (it is something difficult in Italy for private person to have one, for now I used some throw-away bottles), and he said yes.
Then, I solved one of the main issue, I have a small MIG welder, but it isn't here, I left it to a friend 300km from where I live now, and I haven't so much space to work with here.
Then, it seems to be a good thing I can afford on professional machines to do my job.
Next thing, I have to put together the flame tube and the combustion chamber. I think I start in january, because of Christmas all here stops until 7/1 😁

Today, after some trouble, arrived the ESC for the fan I bought for starting the engine.
I tested it and I think it must work. The turbocharger starts to spin (slowly) even with the sticky protective oil it has in the bearings, it is like grease and it give a lot of resistance even rotating it by hands. With some good oil and some heat (it is around 0°C in the garage yesterday) things can only go better!

I'm at my parents house for the vacation, Yesterday I found my old project parts for the turbine in their garage. A new K thermocouple rated for 1300°C (the same I have as EGT thermometer since 5years ago on the LPG van), the oil cooler, some piping and flanges, and the Garrett T2 turbo. It is smaller than I remember, I can't take measurements now, but it seems that the data I found on the internet are wrong. Maybe there are two turbochargers for that engine, the last Euro2 model from wich the turbo was taken maybe uses a smaller one to reduce PM emissions on the lower rpm. However, I pick it up and tomorrow I carry all the things to my home. If it is too small I can sell it. Or maybe I can use it as an ash tray 😁
