Hi William
187 lbs without a jet nozzle is pretty good , a ~25% increase on a similar previous testrun , more discharge from the surge slot this time due to a change in the IGV angles.
I'm having a look inside the engine this morning to make sure things are OK before doing a full afterburn test

Hi Guys Had a look inside this morning and all is OK The new flametube front wall has a bit of colouration but no "burning ". So its back together, on the test stand, the A/B installed and back on the trailer , just need a fresh brew of fuel . Cheers John

Hi William
2 parts petrol with 1 part kero , its sorta like the jet fuel used by the large airliners who appreciate the extra volatilises at high altitude with the extremely cold temperatures in the event of a flameout .
The extra volatiles also help to get my fuel burning a tad quicker as more gets vapourised in the tubes , I found it helped with my very short flametubes to prevent flames through the turb wheel .

I think it was caused by the explosive bangs and the sudden excess pressure when the metal was already very hot , plus probably a dodgy weld , the sheet metal guys who made it ground down the welds to make it "pretty", something I didn't need , but it was too late to complain once it was done .
I've roughly welded on a patch :-)
I've gotta go back to a dry nozzle and get things sorted , something isn't making sense , I'm losing too much thrust somewhere , my dry runs have been with the spring balance , but I'll use the load cell that I normally only use with the A/B to see if its a measuring abberation .
Previous test with an open 130 mm pipe produced 187 lbs of thrust , surely with A/B fired up I should have been able to produce nearly twice that with a 140 mm nozzle attached .

Yep , the pops and bangs look and sound good, but like you say with hot stainless, perhaps a little to much.... still think I am going to try only A/B at full fun pedal once moving....
