well, due to unplanned and unwanted job change, sudden death in the family and one swift kick to the nuts after another, I havent really had time to mess with the kart in a while. I have managed to install two new fuel pumps for the engine and afterburner and fabricated a new end cap and fuel nozzle set up to hopefully reduce/eliminate any future leaks, but havent had a chance to attempt another test. I have taken the kart to a couple of local car shows and an open house for Larsen Motorsports, who build and race jet dragsters. While at the open house, a Florida Tech student let me know about a fella in Alabama selling another jet-powered toy. So, after a 20 hour drive, I have another toy...... It's a JFS-100-13. It fires right up, but it will need some serious love. Throttle mechanism designed and machined by former NASA astronaut, Jim Voss, who still holds world record for longest space walk!!! Has external oil cooler with 12V fan. Came with maintenance manual, names and phone numbers of people to contact for parts and info. I just wish I had an actual overhaul manual because it's going to need a new turbine blisk real soon. So, if anyone had a lead on a turbine, new or used, let me know. Appears to have had one too many hot starts. I did notice it blows quit a bit of flame on start up, so im going to dig in and see if its just getting too much fuel during starting. Havent had a chance to dig into it, but I want to run a borescope into it. Im safe to assume if the turbine is looking tattered, the inlet guide vanes are probably toast as well. I've read a lot of negative things about these engines, but it gives me something else to play with until I finish my hybrid rocket designs....... Helps to remember to turn the fuel on before starting.

I went out and grabbed one of the injectors to show you the caked up stuff on the injector tip. You can see that the outer lip on this injector is coated in a weird pattern, definitely not circular as it should be. I was going to check all of the injectors to see if I can resuse them, but I haven't got around to it. The manual talks about how to clean and test them. Good luck, Chris

awesome!!, just ordered the overhaul manual. The maintenance manual I have just covers testing fuel, oil and electrical systems which will also be super handy, but anything involving the core (compressor, turbine or combustion chamber) is covered in the overhaul. I didnt want to get in too deep without knowing torque specs to put it back together

not terrible, but also not good. Im still curious as to what the inlet guide vanes and combustion chamber look like....
