Im curious about yoursetup. First of all that sounds like a really powerful spark! Are you not using automotive spark coils? Do these coils trade power for dwell time? I know with the ignition im working on the frequency will be much faster but obviously not as powerful as yours! Is one spark per second enough? Sorry im kind of a newb with these things.

there are no coils..... does your box have 555 ic ,
as for cost we hoping to bring it in about £100 or less, thats with surface discharge ignitor plug, it gives out 3 joules of energy at 2kv every half second
As i an sure plenty of you know there are plans on the web for ignition box's etc, some work some dont. I have spent well over this in the past making box's that work for a time, or dont give all they say

Ah, a nice hot capacitive ignition box, I like it
might be worth offering it in a package so that a standard spark plug and wire could be used to get the power where it needs to be

is the spark timing controlled through a spark gap, inline resistor, or by some other means? Great project by the way

Dont know about 8 a second, but 4 or 5 , but we setled on 2 a second,
It's switched by some other method.
Do you guys think it would be good for the box to switch it's self off after 60 seconds

It is ..... but there may be more cost, as the box was designed for point one for 12volt. the thinking being that if some one is running 24vollt. more over than not they have two 12volt batteries ? Dont think it would be that hard to find on ebay a 24 to 12 volt drop down ?
We hope to have first batch done in 10 days or so , so if you want one please let me know

Hi All Sorry not kept you all up dated with work on this, but after a few problems with supply of some components, which we have now over come with i think a better solution, i am now pleased to say we are there. Below is link to video of the box working, it works at 6 to 24 volts dc, comes with its own lead, ignitor plug, and comes in a small encloser,( link below ) will be less than the £100.00 we first thought, will have price once we get some quotes back youtu.be/gFrio_z8ANwencloser link uk.rs-online.com/web/p/plastic-boxes/4935764/
