Hello all of you guys (and girls ? ) from the JATO forum ! I´ve been recently discovering your forum and ... I simply love it !! Keep doing what you do, it is really great stuff. For myself, I am living in southern Germany, nearby of Karlsruhe and I am working on a TS21 (MIG starter) / turboprop project. I want to build a fadec for it - probably on arduino basis... I have a good friend in Switzerland - also deep deep into turbinepropulsion - and we had already some great outdoor turbine events ! Checkout his page here: www.c-turbines.ch - you will probably want an online translator - Enjoy !! If you look at "Gasturbinen" and then "Turbinentreff_1" you´ll find a vid there. Kind Regards to all of you jetheads Marc

tell me where i can buy a TS21 and I'll develop the fadec real quick!

Hi Chris & John & rip ! I have read various post from you and have seen many of the great projects you´ve built Good on ya, well done ! Are you all from Australia ?? I have lived there for a half year - did studies at the ANU in a great project and afterwards traveled a little around in your great country, I really liked it a lot !! Lots of you are pretty innovative, what I appreciate very much and what corresponds a lot with me ! Chris: A TS21 becomes more and more hard to get, even here in Germany, these are selling (if you can get one 2k € and more by now). If I can get one somewhere I´ll definitely let you know ! A friend of mine has two o them, have you seen his page ? They are so very well built, but there are somewhat particular regarding their starting procedure (they produce a differential pressure mix from compressor and free turbine to control the fuel valve...) see the info on the webpage, he describes it very well ! John: Yes I know him ! Thomas Baumgart was so very kind to send me a lot of technical docs (lots of them traduced from russian )and the base of his controller is also pretty cute ... The principal design would fit, but the TS has some particularities, and I would like to set up a real fadec with safe automatic shutdown sequence if one of the crucial parameters has an override ! Love your projects XD ! Cheers, Marc

Hey rip ! Didn´t knew this page !! Thanks a lot for sharing ! It is basically a TS21 where they took of the free turbine section and made it a pure jet turbine.. For mine, I want to keep all the free turbine section with its nice double (!) planetary gearbox for my turboprop project. But still, I love their vector control .. Cheers, Marc

We're working on a controller for our steam turbine dragster right now. I have Chainsaw Keith and Lord Richard on my team, they're already talking about traction control. Richard can code!, Keith can drive!
The fuel is probably referenced off the power turbine to help keep temperatures down at low power turbine speed while the gas generator is wanting to accelerate. This could be easily done by looking at the temperature but maybe back then doing it this way was more reliable or used as a backup to a temp based fuel schedule.

Hi Chris ! This is your transformed Hamilton starter device ? Cool thing Is it then a mix of a steam vapor and a gas generator you are building there that feeds you free turbine ? How do you design that ? Uncommon - freakin thing that ! And you want to control the fuel feed by the pressure at the power turbine ! What about the steam production - will it vary ?

Oh no - my mistake: you want to control it by the temperature ! What about the response time ? Isn´the changement of pressure quicker ?

Hey rip ! You are model-builder ? In your thread there are these things written in German ! Sprichst Du etwa deutsch ?? Hey there ! Cheers, Marc

Hi Marc
Yeh , Thomas is one very smart guy , I've been a fan of his Site for a long time .
Good to hear you enjoyed your stay and studies here in Oz , we're an easy going lot who do like to tinker with things ;-)

Hi Marc,

Hi all ! First, I would like to say hi to Ralph and translate his post for you guy as most of the viewers do speak english and not german : "Hi Marc, Yes I am speaking German but unfortunately no English (The translation programs from google and bing are quite a drag, maybe do you know a good one?). I wouldn´t consider myself as a model builder, but one can say that fling models is a hobby of mine. I am also excited like lots of the viewers of the numerous projects here !!! I can´t wait to see you project with the TS21. The TS21 is quite an intriguing version of a small APU ( Compressor guiding system seems simmilar to the one of the Fairchild J44) Kind Regards, Ralph" So hello Ralph, Yes I mostly using a site called www.linguee.de where you can do context-relevant translations, which is pretty good. But beside using this service I am able to translate stuff from German to English and vice-versa, also for subjects with a technical background. If you want to use the site mentioned you need at least basic knowledge in how to express yourself in English. Most of current online translators will transform lots into real gibberish ! I did some model aircraft building and -flying (if they didn´t crashed ... lol) as well & I still would like to build a delta with one of my pulse reactors - especially with the one I had built a long time ago with my dad - We´ll see I far I can succeed with my TS21 project and, of course, I´ll gladly share this experience with all of you here ! Actually I have a question for Chris: Is the monitoring of the TOT common for the control for the fuel debit ?? I have never heard such a thing before ?? Really fascinating.. How do you succeed with your Hamilton project (will check in the corresponding thread..)? By the way, I have someone selling his TS21 (practically new wt. all auxiliaries - but the bloke asks 3600 € for it !!) Cheers, Marc

Hi Marc,
