You havenĀ“t considered taking her a bit further still for a second or two to see if there is a temperature "hump" that needs passing before the temps settle down to normal again?

Hi Anders
I'll need to get a fuel pump upgrade first , this old pump was on its limits today even with the PWM screwed to full 24 volts and the bypass dump valve shut tight .
Once thats in place I'll certainly crank up the fuelflow for a few seconds to see what happens .............more fuel , more fuel ...........thats what I've been telling guys for years , time I took my own advice ;-)
She's a bit noisy even with the diffuser pipe installed .
Cheers John

What type of pump are you going to replace the old one with? 2xBosch 044?

Theres a few cheap mecanicly driven pumps on ebay that flow huge amounts and go to 400psi if you could find a dc motor to drive it What type of pump are you going to replace the old one with? 2xBosch 044?

John, good work. Now that you have Fat Boy running you can see what is the next step. It is difficult to troubleshoot an engine that is not running. I admire you "never give up" approach.
Thanks, Ron

Hi Ron
Yep , very hard to sort out if I can't get it spooled up .
LOL.......can't give up just yet , success could be "just around the corner", I just need to work out why its "hitting the wall" past 2.5 PR , temps are a bit high up till then , but "acceptable??" , but I can't see why they should suddenly skyrocket especially as the compressor efficiency is still very good and not demanding lotsa extra horsepower to drive it, the turbine should be getting more "efficient" the faster it runs , unless theres a "shock" somewhere in the system just past that 2.5:1 PR , just don't know , but then thats the challenge with this engine , sorta like my first build when I really did know nuthin' but didn't realise it , now I know I know nothing :-)
Till next run
Cheers John

John, big laugh. I have worked on compressors and gas turbines since 1968 when I got out of the missile business. I have learned a lot from you the last few years. I read and study all gas turbines the time. However, the more I know the more it seems there is to learn. Happy hunting.
Thanks, Ron
