Hi Richard
Its a bit of a relief to finally see it produce some decent flames , ..................the only change has been reducing the P2 pressure switch that activates the A/B fuel pump , down from its initial setting of 28psi , to 18psi at previous test run and finally down to 10 psi this time .................I still can't understand why I didn't have clouds of white smoke previously , I've got it now , the only difference is the pressure point at which the fuel is admitted, ......we live and learn :-)
Cheers John

Congratulations! The flame seems a bit unstable, did you run the engine at max P2? It is difficult to hear on the video but I donĀ“t think I hear that heart-tearing noice of fingernails drawn across a black board either... ;D More fuel!!

Hi Anders
Yeh , unstable :-( .....................so I redid the maths and found I needed a bit larger jet nozzle on her, so cut 30mm off the length and opened her up by 10mm to 108mm dia .
I've given the kart to my mate Smithy , my healths not up to doing much more with her , so better she's with someone who has the energy and skills to make her "sing" ,...... she's in good hands , so stay tuned for developments :-).
Cheers John

John,
Curious about the GT6041... What are the diameters and hub on that? And since you probably know it off the top of your head... What is the jetspecs jet nozzle dia and thrust for a non AB case? Curious about just how much shaft hp one could get with that monster...
Thanks

Hi Anders
Yeh , this CFS is giving me hell at the moment , only way to calm it down is to de-stress , kinda hard to do when playing with homemade turbine engines .
Cheers John

Hi Wolf
The GT6041 has a 141 mm dia comp with a ~106mm inducer , hub ~30mm , very strong unit with its boreless comp , can be "flogged" rather hard ......................"dry" thrust is a tad under 150 lbs from an 88mm dia jet nozzle and probably capable of 175 shp with a suitable freepower turbine attached , maybe even a tad more with extra mods , ~200 shp would/could be its upper limit .
Its a big turbo flowing 75% of the air that an Allison C20 heli engine does ( 3.6 lbs/sec) , and they turn out >400 shp from their ~7:1 pressure ratio engine , we're talking serious flow rates thru the 6041 at 2.75 lbs/sec , ~2,200 CFM going in , ~7,600 CFM of hot gas coming out , shes a bit scary to be close to with that compressor wheel needing ~300 hp to spin it at 70,000 rpm
Cheers John

Hey Guys, As you all know, John has given the GT6041 powered "afterburning" kart to myself to "finish-off"...although 99.999% of the work has been done by John....and may I say, what a beautiful job it is, seeing it in person makes me really appreciate John's skills and inginuity. I wish to publicly thank John, he's one of those "real friends" one meets only once or twice in a lifetime.
I have reasonable access to a drag strip and hopefully the "Green Beast" will see the track soon and I hope to be able to update you all as to progress etc..
Cheers and thanks once again to John (Rackets).
Smithy.
