Good day to all!!
Just a few things I thought I would share with the community.
First I work as a Fixed Equipment Reliability Engineer for Chevron currently (I'm a contract employee) first to oil.
The PBOP unit (Pascagoula Bulk Oil Project) one of the largest of it's kind provides Premium Base Oils for the Lubricants Industry and by 20xx will provide 45-50% of the worlds base oils for lubricants (Chevron's projection) so... at the end of the day most lubricants start at a handful of refineries, the main difference is additive packages, so on to the next high point, fuels..
Fuels ie. gasoline, diesel, kerosene, jet A.... are typically produced by the closest refinery be it Chevron, Texaco, Citgo, Motiva, Shell, BP, or Sunoco. There difference lies in the additive package. At the at Pascagoula blending and shipping facility we stock the additive packages for most fuel companies, the low cost fuel brands you see with 10 to 20 cent cheaper fuel have little to no additive package thus the lower cost but in modern engines it WILL cause long term reliability issues mostly in gasoline engines.
And on to the only truly helpful info I have to share... Milk of Magnesia. Great for indigestion, heart burn, and High Temperature Anti Seize for stainless. On the Continuous Catalytic Reforming Unit and other high temperature service units that utilize stainless for their construction and operate at 900+ degrees we solely use off the pharmacy shelf milk of magnesia for units that run 5 years between shutdowns, works like a champ, it's dirt cheap and works better than any high temp anti-seize, odd but true. After breaking out the CCR i'm a believer, no gualing on our fasteners yet!!!
