Hello All, Can anyone help me identify this turbine please. I recently got this engine off ebay in a good deal. Engine seems fine and has just 3 hours on it. Rotates freely etc. But seller says it's a 20 Kg thrust engine which I highly doubt. Also I searched everywhere but didn't found anything on JTM engines as the manual says. JetJoe doesn't seem to build a similar engine.
Can anybody point me in the right direction. I don't have the setup to measure the thrust. Intake seems to be near 50mm(approx.). I don't know if these Rc engines can make 20 Kg thrust with that small inlet. Thanks.

Nice turbine man. The green cowling is a Wren thing but they can be bought and swapped about so it does not speak for the origin of the whole engine. Some Wren turbines have their name stamped on the turbine wheel so have a look if you can see anything on it. Try looking at the outer casing with the clamps removed for any logos (my JetJoe has its logo printed there). The max rpm of 115000 given is the same as the jj1800 which achieves 20lb of thrust but I notice that the dimensions of your engine are slightly different to the jj1800. Probably opening her up and measuring the parts will be the most conclusive way of estimating the performance but be sure to review Xairflyer's brilliant guide before you do it (and only if you're comfortable with doing it): www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-jets-120/9458885-jj1400-14lb-turbine-stripdown-rebuild.html

Jet Joe only make 4 different turbines, the "Junior" which is tiny at just 50mm OD & ~3.5lbs thrust & 240,000rpm, the 1400 (14lb thrust), the 1800, (18lb thrust) and the 3000, (30lb thrust), I've had all of them and although they do work, they need a lot of fettling to get them to work nicely, they're fairly poor quality compared to the likes of Kingtech, JetCat, AMT, Behotec and the like. Very rarely do they make the specified thrust without reworking the combustion chamber and re-balancing the rotor. They're quite old technology these days and haven't really changed in over 10 years. There were a few companies who "Re-badged" the Jet-Joe as their own....but they were still essentially a Jet-Joe. They make a good "learning" tool though..! The one in your pics at 121mm diameter may be the JJ1800, 20lb engine, judging by the steel outer can, not 20kg as mentioned on the booklet, the JJ3000 30lb engine originally had an aluminium outer can. I have a Kingtech K180G 18kg thrust engine which is ~40lb thrust and just 113mm diameter. John has seen this one in action and with afterburner she's good for well over 50lbs thrust. www.jetjoe.com/cp.php?nowmenuid=52330Smithy.

It mentions a fuel consumption of just 685ml/min @ full power. My 18kg Kingtech engine uses a similar amount and they're a pretty well designed engine....so at a guess there's no way on Earth this thing is going to make 20kg of thrust..!
