Took out a chunk of concrete wall with a gasifier turbine one time. Scary stuff.
Thanks, Ron

Should have got a SFI Certified Garrett. wouldn't have made any difference in this case....The wheel came loose from the shaft, ground down the inducer until it went out the exhaust pipe, then ricochet off the track!!!!!

www.dragzine.com/features/pri-coverage/pri-2018-garrett-reveals-sfi-approved-gt55-turbine-housing/Coincidentally, I was speaking with the engineering manager of Garrett about this exact subject Saturday afternoon. He was here in Atlanta for the "2019 Lights Out" drag race in South Georgia. He described their design efforts, computer simulations, materials research and in house burst testing of ALL their products. Even if its not "SFI Certified with the cross-bolts to prevent down pipe expulsion" a Garrett housing design is not qualified unless it can contain a wheel burst in test. The housing must not break. Garrett is serious about containing wheel burst.

It would be a bad day if that thing went zinging into the crowd. Looks like Garrett is on the problem.

yeah it looks like that car didn't have the cross bolts in the exhaust pipe to contain the wheel. Most of the serious turbo drag cars have them.

Hi guys just wanted to keep you all up to date. Bearings and new rubber is on the way. I rewired the kart to get it "flight ready" and all sub systems are working flawlessly. The last 10% really does take 90% of the time. Road test coming soon I hope. -Gavin

Project 80 finally drove!!! the only problem was I broke the slide potentiometer for the trottle. I really need to take it somewhere I can really test it but it's already gone 60mph. now time to start work on the afterburner. Here's a walk-around of the completed kart youtu.be/mIEoEjRrXRI Feel free to ask anything guys -Gavin

That is a really cool ride you got going there Gavin. I love how the system controls and instrumentation display is integrated into the steering wheel.

Excellent. Two thumbs up.
83 MPH is very fast for a cart that size. How did the cart stability feel?
