Where might one find such a turbo in decent useable shape, for a decent amount ?
Thanks, Nik

Looking for a turbo to spin a free turbine with some useable shaft power. I see you guys used the gt6041 for karts prior to designing and building your own turbines.

Would it be possible to get 50 ish shaft horsepower out of such a setup? Or maybe a newer turbo would be better suited...

you can use a much smaller turbo to get 50hp.
Basically any large-ish truck turbo should be ok (look for a 75mm compressor inducer or larger)

A GT6041 would be capable of >150 HP , probably closer to 200HP , my old TV84 turbo bike with a 3.5" inducer produced 110 RWH on the dyno , a modern turbo , preferably diesel unit with a "full sized" turb stage , with a 3" inducer would easily produce 50HP , my 2 shaft kart jetandturbineowners.proboards.com/thread/40/2-shaft-turbine-kart-build produced >30HP with just chain redux and reduced freepower rpm from a flow of ~1.1 lbs/sec , a GT42 comp stage on a GT47 turb stage would be more than enough for 50HP if a Cummins HX82 turb wheel was used for the freepower stage .

Hi Nik
I'd look for the GT6041, though most of them are "industrial" units which only have 98 mm inducers unlike the "performance" ones with the 106 mm , though there are some industrial ones with 106 mm.
Failing finding a GT6041 , the large Cummins/Holset HX82 units can be had with 100mm inducers .
Cheers John
