Not sunflower or vegetable oil BUT I have tried Castor oil as the fuel.
More of a Castor oil and biodiesel blend.
It was denser than normal diesel.
I don’t remember any exceptional running characteristics or any issues.

I'm rebuilding a turbo now that the engine it was on ran on waste vegetable oil. Coked up everything with lots of buildup, wouldn't recommend unless you mix it with regular diesel like madpatty did.
