Hi, Where are you based i.e. What country? Richard. Hey guys, looking for a plessey solent complete or parts engine. I would also be interested in any other small twinshaft engines. Turbine@dynatac.net

Wow big stuff! Seems like some decent prices too. Those tornado APU's are neat but are single shaft unfortunately :/
Thanks for the info!

Avoid those tornado apu's in the UK from the 'woods group' in Crediton as they are totally scrap as a lot of them have had holes punched right through the combustion chamber casing and also other damage as to make them unserviceable on purpose from the MOD, my pal had bought the last lot of serviceable tornado apu's that were available. Richard. Wow big stuff! Seems like some decent prices too. Those tornado APU's are neat but are single shaft unfortunately :/ Thanks for the info!

The RR Viper 201 on ebay was used by a company that I know near me in Derby England for testing high temperature turbine tip timing sensors because if you look closely at the picture of the turbine blades you will notice that a pair of blades at every 1/3 the way around the turbine have been shortened, this is perfectly ok as in the service manual for this engine it states that you can shorten the length of a pair of blades at 1/3 distance from each pair for turbine balancing purposes, I think it states that they can be shortened by up to 1/4 inch maximum if I remember correctly. Richard. Wow big stuff! Seems like some decent prices too. Those tornado APU's are neat but are single shaft unfortunately :/ Thanks for the info!

That's interesting to know (and sad), the £1500 one looks to be in terrible condition and knowing what you said I'm surprised they have them listed at that price

Interesting, yeah the history of that viper seems a little spooky. It's certainly odd seeing the blades reduced in size. Not too interested in the big stuff, mainly the solents at the moment. I have a parts engine solent I tore down to understand , so getting a operational one would be great.

I saw those tornado APU's, they look horrible. I guess from the demilling process like you mentioned or simply mistreated. Plus, the radioactive magthor compressor housing isn't too attractive.
