I have a sick RR Nimbus that is getting an overhaul from turbine stage 2 all the way back. I need to get the stub-shaft off so I can have the rear-bearing inner race replaced, only problem is I can't persuade the damn cupwasher to unfold so I can undo the locking nuts. The manual states it must be prised not hit to avoid damaging the center bearing (although it looks like someone has hit it already!). I've tried pliers and levering it but while it will bend slightly it doesn't want to deform. Does anyone have any ideas or know of a tool that would help? I hoped someone might make hydraulic needle-nosed pliers but sadly not The offender:

You might need to consult the DIY "butchers" manual here ...............small oxy torch flame , the thin metal washer will soften quickly before the thicker nut sections heat up, allowing you to pry out the washer .

Thanks a lot for the suggestion John, I hadn't considered applying heat. I had been debating for a long time if I should just tap the damn thing out or not, the instructions are just silly as you can't reasonably bend Inconel of that thickness with such a small area.
I'll give it a go and see if I can get more success.
Thanks,
Jon
