Hi John Thanks for the info.... think I have to order a few in myself, mite just check UK supplier to see if he has any left yep, can not quite see the point of lower voltage version...... for us a 12 volt would be nice, not having to bother with drop down transformer All Best Andy

Hi Andy
LOL , maybe the "men in black" got onto Sparkfun about the potential uses for the product and they "pulled it" ;-)
Always good to have a few spares .
Cheers John

From memory the Neutrik connectors are 30 or 40 amps per pin, so it's probably usable for a starter

I checked the Neutrik assortment and they have one connector called PowerCon rated at 32A, that´ll do! During this spring I will fit a starter motor and the eddy current tacho sensor, since the external ignition box and propane preheat already are installed I will use them for now and make plans for a vehicle mounted ignition and a kero starter later. I don´t think I will fit the starter accessories to the bike like I said before, there is no reason for it since I still will be needing a helper that lowers the rear wheel from the pit stand and checks for oil/fuel leaks before a run. An external battery/motor controller box will also be much easier to carry into the caravan for charging after a run. I have been asked to bring the bike to the Swedish Custom Bike Show the 6th of June, a good deadline for the bike upgrades since I need some time before the race in September to try the handling of the bike out at speed after fitting a better steering damper. Cheers! /Anders

I have a PowerCon on my desk at the moment. I'd send it to you but I'm sure shipping would be a lot more than the connector is worth The Speakon connectors are the same but with different keying to avoid power and speaker cables being interchangeable

I just bought a set of 32A PowerCon conenctors from UK, it will be a very neat way of hooking the starter up.

The BorgWarner turbo speed sensor arrived today, as soon as the starter motor gets here I will start machining the compressor cover. Fun fun fun!

I do indeed, it was a while since I did any machining on the engine now so I am eager to do the mods. It will be fun to improve something that already works ok compared to the usual R&D to make a non-runner start working decently.

Do you guys want me to draw up a print for a DC-DC buck converter (more efficient)? Or, if you want simple and brute force, a linear regulator will more than suffice, it's just going to get a bit warm...

Today the brushless motor arrived with the mail, thanks a lot Andy for letting me copy your idea! I found a suitable aluminum plate in the good-to-have-pile and started making a bracket. Almost there... I have some final touches left to do to improve air flow around the bracket arms but I had to test fit the starter motor first. That looks like it could work, while writing this post the thought struck me that the motor might hit the front wall in the intake air box, I have to take some measurements next time I am in the workshop to see if I need to modify the air box somewhat... Cheers! /Anders

Hi Anders
If that big motor doesn't spin it , nothing will :-)
Nice solid mount .
