Hi Anders, if you want a figure for the frontal area on the bike, I can get that for you pretty easily in solid works. All I need is a frontal pic on a clear background taken from as far away as possible and zoomed to enlarge to cut down the "fish eye" effect. And an accurate measurement for the widest part of the fairing so I can scale it. I took some guesses and this is what I got. let me know if you want me to run a more accurate one. Cheers Ian

Hi Ian, Wow, thanks a lot for the help! I suck at computers so this was very helpful. 0.36m3 is less than I could have guessed, sweet! This number is accurate enough for me, no need to find the last decimal in square feet since drag depends on so much more than frontal area. If I do any more changes to the bike or riding position I will take a picture the way you suggested and email to you, so thanks in advance! Cheers! /Anders

Hi Anders, as I said this is a bit of guess as I do not know the measurement across your fairing, could be out quite a lot? If you just measure that and I can get it pretty close, don't worry about the photo I think the one I have should be close enough (+/-10%) Cheers Ian...

Still not a bad number at all, I don´t think it is possible to get a much smaller area than that without radically changing the riding position.

To do things in your sleep is a measure of high skill, up until now all I could produce was snoring and loud farts but with the addition of the 3D printer I suddenly have a much wider repertoire. Something that has bothered me from the beginning has been the sloppy placement of the quick fittings for propane and starting air, so last night I made a drawing of a fitting, loaded some Bridge Nylon in the printer and put it to work while I went to bed for a couple of pages of Joe Abercrombie´s The First Law fantasy triology before falling asleep. This morning I woke up with the finished nylon fitting waiting for me on the printer table, and after dinner I went out to mount it on the bike. This 3D-printing business is so darn useful! If someone needs anything printed in nylon or PLA send me a PM, the printer has some limitations but it is no problem as long as it is taken into consideration while drawing the part. Raising some extra funds for the new engine build won´t hurt. Cheers! /Anders

Hi John, A polished aluminum mount milled from solid wouldn´t shame the appearance either, but it would take me probably 8 hours of work to make and I´d rather spend those hours on the water injection or casting the JU-02 parts. I´ll try to print threaded parts next to find out if the printer is capable of detailed enough prints. Right now I can´t think of anything I´d rather do than lay flat in the sofa, I ran a marathon today and managed to finish at 2:59:48 so I reached my sub-3h goal. The muscles in the legs and buttocks are a bit sore right now to say the least, Anna will probably have to push me out of bed tomorrow morning... Cheers! /Anders

Thanks Andy, my calves are killing me today but the race was well worth having to walk down stairs backwards a couple of days. I found a use for the Neutrik bayonet plug that was used for the external ignition before I decided to fit it to the bike, I figure out I can use it for the battery charger so I won´t have to remove the rear fairing every time I charge the battery. Most of the stuff I ordered for the water injection has arrived so I made a spray nozzle holder to find out the flow rate and discharge angle, I need to know this before I decide where to fit the nozzle in the air box. Cheers! /Anders

Anders, does that nozzle allow enough flow for you to not use a bypass valve? Or is it pulse width modulated?
