Hi i am new to JATO and just wanted to share my first build with you it is very agricultural as it only cost $50 and made out of all scrap i had laying around and basic tools. So life for the Holset HX83 started for me when i was taking some scrap steel to the scrap yard and it was laying there in the mud. I had to have it so i asked and it cost me the $50. So that was my budget at the time. So after some time researching it was a hx80 but with a cast iron front housing and a titanium front wheel for high boost applications. Now time to pull it down and clean the mud out of it. After and good clean up and inspection it looks to be in great shape. So reassemble it and at 50kg it was fun.

You found an hx80 laying in the mud? That is awesome! Do you have any pics of the bearings or the housings?

I have had it running a on LPG several times now and was running out of gas pressure so I fitted the diesel injector and pump set up. Once running on gas slowly wound up the diesel and immediately the sound changed so as spooled up I turned the gas off and it was running nice so I increased fuel pressure and it began to spool up rapidly and started to roll forward so i had to kill it. Was a heart attack moment, 100kg of steel rolling forward on an engine standard.

Nice work on that engine, i always Wanted to find a holset hx 80 but i had to be happy With the HX60w that i found! Any collected data from those runs?,i mean temps, pressures, engine speed etc,tie the engine down and put a weight scale to measure Thrust,i believe that engine at that size is capable of 50kg+ in thrust Good work there! Cheers /stephan
