Hi Jeff
Bummer , ..............a mismatch of component sizes ??
Cheers John

Hey John,
No, this engine's compressor is just a hair bigger than the turbine wheel.

Hi Jeff
Maybe more starter power/RPM , though it looks like you're getting plenty .
The combustion was a bit "spluttery " how is your fuel delivery.
Cheers John

Hi John,
Yes, I heard the fluttering of the exhaust too,,,something that didn't occur with Heineken 1. Using the same propane BBQ gas bottle for these test runs.

Jeff

Hi Jeff
So only propane being used ??
Normally propane is a very good stable fuel with consistent flows and combustion .
I'll watch the vid a few more times and have a think :-)
Cheers John

Hi Jeff
Theres some combustion problems at 2 and 10 o'clock , two "dark" patches on the vid at ~31 seconds , when watched at 1/4 speed the exhaust flames are "interesting" .
Might need to do a test of the fuel delivery/distribution , something ain't right .
Cheers John

Hi John,
I installed the U shaped evaporators to exit in a counter clockwise pattern on the front wall of the burner can, this is opposite of how I did it on Heineken 1.
Is this causing the issue?
After talking to Chris Reedy we sort of unanimously agreed the counterclockwise exit would be the best for a rotor turning counterclockwise as viewed from the front (which is how the Kamps evaporator sticks slant to the clockwise rotation, but also has a clockwise rotation compressor.
My starting gas injector (just one injector feeding an evap tube) is connected to a Coleman fuel (Butane/Propane mix) can, my main fuel ring is connected to the BBQ 20lb propane gas cylinder.
She accelerates straight away once the BBQ cylinder is opened to a point where I can feel the plastic vacuum cleaner tube get smaller in diameter through my hand, and electric motor spin faster.
Hope I explained it clearly enough
Regards
Jeff

Hi Jeff
With only using propane theres no evaporation required so I feel any "orientation" issues wouldn't be causing any problems , maybe if kero was being injected it might , but maybe theres some sort of abberant air flow being created within the flametube ..............don't know :-( ...................my gut feeling after seeing those "cool" segments would be to check fuel flow is equal from all injectors.
Cheers John

Gotcha, will check further into this, thanks John.
With my project sitting in the basement for awhile anything could be causing a fuel blockage.

Looking at your other videos on youtube, this attempt appears to be lacking spool up along with too much fuel supplied too early. Just my 2 cents. Cheers.

Hi guys, Thanks for your input into why my my new engine won't run. I think Chris Reedy nailed it with a message to me about case pressure not being enough. I did make a spacer/gasket from Delrin because my front cover sat about 1/8" above the diffuser blades, causing air from the compressor to flow above the diffuser blades all together. Long story short I F'd up my front cover trying to mill it even thinner to provide enough compressor clearance. No worries, I had some spare Delrin around to machine another front cover. Need to come up with a bell mouth front for it though. Regards Jeff

Hi Guys, It appears the burner can came off the NGV as there was nothing holding it on other than a light force fit,,,I feel like such an ignoramus. Anyhow, I made 3 stainless fingers to hold it on. Regards Jeff

Hi Guys, I picked up this supercharger off a wave runner/jet ski. Not sure if I'll ever build a turbine from it, but these don't come up for sale very often. Regards Jeff
