Really admirable use of CAD! Gives me an idea of modeling my own next project

Sorry to say, but that casting looks terrible?! I think you could have done it better and faster from solid, that one needs a lot of grinding.. Are you sure that only the surface is bad quality?

A couple of litres diesel burnt today, turbine seemed to work fine at the very first try We did a 90% diesel / 10% E85 mix, TOT didn't climb over 600degrees of celcius at any moment. Only we didn't get more than 2bar P2 with 8,5GPH injector, fuel pressure was 9bar.. I guess we need to go bigger? Later we noticed that gas producers bearings are quite sloppy and we need to make new ones before further testing. But, bike is now almost ready for painting and we got time to fix the problems! I went the easy way with the swirl thing. Also blocked equal area of the primary holes to keep air amount the same.. "044" fuel pump with diy double out/inputs and clamp: Testing with diesel maybe this weekend

Thanks for the tips! We were thinking about using two injectors, but first we want to try current version if it runs ok. By-pass nozzle seems interesting and could be worth of testing Does anybody have a picture of a good swirler?? If I add a swirler, there's more air at the primary zone, should I block some of the primary holes then? Yesterday I welded an oil breather can and changed bigger breather hose:

Patty, we'll test an EFI pump capable of +8bar pressure.
Chris, we can try it too. I doubt 8.5GPH injector would give good enough mist at lower (idling) pressure but would easily flood our combustor?

Hi John, I think fuel line won't heat much, because now there's an air gap between the housing and flametube (injector apart from flametube).. Earlier propane injector was bolted right into flametube cap, even it didn't heat much, though propane flow probably cooled it? That will be easy to change if we notice excessive warming. I remember somebody was saying that diesel could be mixed with 10% gasoline? Is ethanol (E85) compatible too?

Combustor is now ready for diesel (I hope so).. Picture below shows injector and spark plug locations, we're using the same propane injector, only in different angle this time. Any thoughts?

Hi Patty, Nice job! Start a new thread for your build and add as many pics there as you want Fuel tank almost done, 3.5litres:

Gas producer's piston ring seal is leaking most likely, it will be opened at the same time as we modify the combustor...

Nice day for driving, too bad we didn't found any longer road nearby. Next week I'll weld the fuel tank and we try to get it run with diesel. Oil cooler has to be installed because oil temp did climb to 100 degrees of celcius after few passes.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zt0jTyA6b9g

Hi guys and thanks for your feedback! We'll test this thing more on Sunday I think. It really has power which we doubt before Sound of the powerturbine is great when it starts to spool up! We started the project February 1 2014 so it took about 4months to come this point Next thing is to get rid of the propane bottle.. Few pics of the setup. We had to modify the oil tank pickup and add extra bypass valve for cold oil, also oil cooler might be considered:

So close but still so far.. Electrics and oil system "done", little adjusting before everything works. Our chinese oil pump surprised us by maxing oil pressure gauge +8bar because I accidentally forgot to open oil by-pass valve. Only the 25A fuse blew. After that we tried again and flood the powerturbine with oil, return line was too small like someone was pondering earlier.. We increased oil return from 6mm ID to 16mm and the problem was solved. Then, we noticed problems with oil pump intake, bike's nose down pressure was lower than nose upwards.. We'll continue tomorrow.

Test drive this week?! All the necessary parts should arrive soon Today we bled the brakes to get this thing stop if we make it run. I bought a small oil filter which needs a "relocation kit" made by our trusty machinist. Air filter might be good to have, so we made one with aluminium cone:
