Got a pitot and thermocouple in the test tube just waiting on a flange to be lazer cut to bolt it on ill make the cone for the end shortly

Ive brought a hand held tachometer just need to know what a safe max rpm is for my unit i read somewhere 75k was about it id prefure to limit rpm rather than presure as we know 40 od psi from unit to unit can be at verry differt rpm.

With a 100 mm comp , you'll be doing ~84,000 rpm at the "safe" limit of 1450 ft/sec tip speed

Thanks i probly dont need to push it that far with the whole 80 pecent power at 50 percent rpm but good to know With a 100 mm comp , you'll be doing ~84,000 rpm at the "safe" limit of 1450 ft/sec tip speed

Yep....I run the GT6041 (106mm) @ ~40-42psi max...which equates to around 80k rpm....

Yep , you'll probably find that your idling speed will be 35-40,000 rpm .
That "safe" tip speed limit is used for turbos of unknown age and heritage , with a modern new turbo it can be increased considerably , but stick to that 84,000 limit , your power will be down a bit but your turbo should cope ...........your comp discharge pressure should be ~30 psi - 2 Bar .

Yeh, it looks OK, but unless we know its got high quality new parts , play safe ..............use this engine as a learning tool , you could always do an overhaul at a latter date and install new comp/turb then screw up the RPM to ~100,000

Yep...if you follow John's advice....you won't go far wrong, he's helped everybody on this forum get their engines running. He's a definite asset to this group and well respected in DIY turbine circles "World Wide".
