Checked my impeller last night its 190mm that explains how it starts mine with only 7500rpms and it's 550fps but a little more would help it takes a bit to spool up

azwood, is the 190mm (7.48") the outside diameter? Note that the Cyclone blower is 916 fps at full song. My formula for tip speed is equal to 3.14*Diameter in inches * rpm divided by 720. This gives a 245 fps for your impeller.
Thanks, Ron

leaf blowers are usually rated on outlet air speed (from the nozzle) or flow (cfm, etc)
A lot of the ebay ones have some pretty random specs which are probably nowhere near true.
I tested my 46cc backpack petrol leaf blower fairly recently:
6500rpm 230mm impeller OD 1psi max pressure

whisperer, what is your flow? Do you have it in cfm or outlet air speed?
Thanks, Ron

I don't have any flow numbers on it. Specs I could find are:
900m³/hr Air velocity 47m/s 1.25kw
there are also claims of 540km/h air speed....

John, search under Fiberglass Reinforced (FRP) blowers for a starter blower. They have 800 cfm at up to 45" wg blowers available. However, I am not sure of the speeds.
Thanks, Ron

John, is the 24 volt diesel starter still the right motor for a 3600 rpm fan. I was hoping to find a higher rpm fan but no joy.
Thanks, Ron

Hi Ron
The Denso diesel starters go up to 7 Kw , with the redux gearbox removed they'll have plenty of rpm , I'd guess they'd simply rev out until power supplied equals power required
Cheers John

Azwood I’ve ran 12 and 24v from the same set of batteries before with no issues. Connect two 12v batteries in series, you will get 24v when measured across both, or 12v across one battery. The only down side I’m aware of is charging. Because the two batteries will drain at different rates, it’s best to charge each battery separately with a 12v charger.
