thin outer can still isn't a reason for that heat colouration , I've used 0.040" WT without colouring , Its good to know that I’m not to thin with the combuster wall thickness. It’s what I had on the shelf. On mine I can touch the tursary zone of the the can and its not to hot but the primary zone is hot but not anywhere near glowing the paints not pealing of it.

It was mentioned by Racket that the discoloration around the secondary holes area on the combustor shell on my engine was of concern. What is the fix for that ?

Hi Rick
Is it still colouring now that you've made changes to the fuel injector position ??
Cheers John

Ill run it and check the combustor with my I/R thermometer and get some readings. It definitely got more blue in the secondary area after running again.

I think that my problem with the combuster showing excessive heat at the secondary area was due to a massive air leak at the top of the flame tube allowing air/flame to push out of the secondary holes. With liquid fuel where do you place the nozzle? What direction should it be aimed? There is no getting around aiming straight down the F/T with what is available(furnace nozzles). How do you throttle the engine? It seems using a bypass or a regulation of pressure would not be very efficient as the droplets become larger as the pressure drops.

Hi Rick
Yes the spray nozzle points down the flametube , position it so that, depending on the spray angle, the spray would impact the Primary air holes in the flametube .
There are bypass spray nozzle where all fuel goes through the nozzle swirler but is then bled off for throttling , this system maintains good atomisation at low throttle settings
Cheers John

So you just close the bypass to throttle up?

Yep , that forces more fuel into the flametube and rpm increase ...........easy :-)

Do people generally start their engines on propane then transition to liquid fuel( diesel in my case)? I suppose its difficult to start on straight diesel.

Yes the ignition and preheat is done with propane it could be done with diesel but its hard to ignite this is something I'm dealing with atm with the kart because I'm trying to make it start with no gas bottle on board.I've found water misting nozzles do a good job of atomiseing fuel look at those.

Hi, This is what you want for wet fuel, well if you using direct injection of fuel not a evaporation fuel system. www.monarchnozzlesindia.com/charts.htmlAnd an ignition box like this All The Best Andy

What is an evaporation fuel system?

What is an evaporation fuel system? The fuel travels through evap tubes that turn it to vapor which makes it burn more efficient nothing to fancy it's probly more simple than spray nozzle's in some ways.
