I recently found this turbine near by.. Apparently brand new in 84' crate. 0 hours. You think this is worth 10k? Does it have a free power section ya think? Thanks

Solar T-62T-32A, the more modern but less sought after cousin of the T-62T-32, the engine the experimental aviators are bolting on their JetExecs and many other single or two seat helicopters. This "A" engine should be quite fuel efficient at a PR of 5.5, yet it's not as forgiving and tolerant to non-stationary operation. If it's worth 10k? That basically depends on you, the amount of money you want to spend on your project and how well it suits your application. New price to the military will probably have been about ten times of the mentioned figure (in today's money). If it was the "Non-A" variant in this condition, you could easily fetch 10k for it due to the availability / demand situation and the relation to the over-all expense of such a helicopter.
To give you a rough estimate, I wouldn't pay more than 5k for that model, basically since the FCU is identical to the one installed on the "Non-A" version and it may serve as spare... Which would provide a more or less "free", interesting turbine section to reverse engineer and play around.
Please keep in mind -- if you intend to run that engine -- it requires an electronic governor/sequencer unit (you may get along without the sequencer function by replacing it with a bank of manually operated switches), otherwise it will be damaged rather quickly. There is no hydro-mechanical governor or speed limiter installed on these units.
Cheers, Thomas
