Read the compressor map of your turbo and find the sweet spot. You won't be needing 3000psi fuel pressure, as in the Racket's post 500psi is plenty for good atomization, set it on idle not less than 100psi and you'll be good.

Thanks John I think you need to go back to basics before actually starting to build anything.....knowledge is the answer....John (Rackets) gave you all the info required and links to that info... but you chose not to use it. If you follow his advice you'll not go wrong. Smithy.

Do you have a link to the original ebay listing?
I don't think that's a turbocharger. It looks to be some sort of turbo pump. I haven't seen anything like it.

I could be wrong but I'm 90% sure it's a Caterpillar earth mover turbocharger. Note the female threads for connecting a bearing oil supply. The housing appears to be cast iron and impeller steel. I'll have to test it later though.. This is what I have and what I'll be using with a relatively cool burning fuel. Correct me if I'm wrong to think it's a Caterpillar Turbocharger. It does weigh in at 24 pounds..
Thanks John

I thought that might be the case - but I'd never seen one. Interesting unit, but unfortunately not much use for a gas turbine!

The split bolt together casing would not work for a turbine housing, and the enclosed impellers will not handle high rpm.

Yeah i had a similar item that use bleed hot air from the main engine and it had a reduction gearbox that hook up to a generator. The hot section was made of stainless steel as well as the turbine wheel.
