Many turbocharged race classes are limited by inducer size - eg 88mm This one has the regulation inducer size, but the surge slot is huge, and the compressor wheel is actually stepped so it effectively has a second inducer. It's probably not the most efficient way to do it, but it'll flow more air than the original 88mm inlet! Apparently this is an issue that popped up in tractor pulling some time ago, so most now don't allow surge slotted compressor housings.
