Hey Guys, I am brand new to forums as well as turbine engines. My late grandfather was a bit of a local legend for all of the turbine powered pulling machines and gadgets that he built over the years, and I inherited his turbine powered garden tractor puller. We got it out after setting for about a decade and it fired up and ran great for a while, but now it appears to be doing exactly what Alex's second video shows... After it does this, it leaks fuel out of the combustion chamber for a while like it's flooded. If I try to start it again it spools really slow, blows white smoke, and won't fire.
One of the issues that I have is that my engine is a GTP30-51 which I can seem to find nothing about online. It appears at a glance to be the same as a GTP30-67 with just a different fuel pump. Mine has the vacuum (or pressure?) ports on the exhaust and the main housing just like the 67's but both of mine are ported back to one valve on the fuel pump. (actually the fitting from the exhaust was capped off when I started working on it.
I've been leaning towards thinking that my fuel pump may be bad not allowing it to push enough fuel, but I see your thread talks about common issues with the ignition exciters. Do you think this could be my problem as well? Your terminology regarding the methods of repairing a bad exciter is way over my head, is there any way to dumb it down, or is there somewhere that I could reach out to purchase a new one and just install it if you're pretty sure that's my issue?
I included some pictures of my project below.
I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer.
