Hi Chuks
Yep , I agree , bit of a disapointment :-(
1.8 mm off the advertised height would be OK for the larger wheels , a bit less for smaller ones .
It gets even more complicated if the wheel has an extended tip .
Always best to have parts "in the hand" before designing up , trust no one , measure everything .
Cheers John

Hi Monty
It certainly will be interesting , not a lot more thrust than my 12/118 engine but it'll be easier to produce with the larger components.
Currently making up a new wooden pattern for casting the front cover/s ...............at 5" its a big hole in the front :-)
I'm looking forward to having the rest of the bits in my hand so that I can start doing some series flow calcs for the turb wheel
Cheers John

Hi Guys A few pics of the comp housing front cover wooden pattern coming together, thought I might as well start on something whilst waiting for the bits to arrive, its been a few years I last made one so a tad rusty , having to use more "bog" that necessary to blend the corner curves , but it'll be OK once its finished Cheers John

Hi Guys
The "hot bits" have arrived at my mate Andrews place , he says they're "a bit large" :-)
Things are getting closer to starting the build , now if only my comp wheels would get a move on .
Cheers John

Hi Guys Ever had one of those days when you need to laugh otherwise you'll cry. My Chinese compressor wheel supplier was ready to ship my couple of wheels, so sent me a pic I thought to myself ..............thats looks nice and shiny , big 128mm inducer 176 mm exducer , reasonable exducer blade shape BUT something didn't seem "right" , had me baffled for a minute or so until I checked out the inducer , BUGGER ME , ITS GOING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION Their Spec sheet gave "forward rotation" , I asked and received clarification that this was correct before making the order . Currently corresponding with the manufacturer to rectify the problem, hopefully it will turn out OK . Cheers John

Very frustrating, but hopefully the fact that you clarified direction before you ordered means they should put it right. Fingers crossed!!
Cheers

Hi Guys A nice wooden box arrived on my doorstep this morning a bit heavy , but manage to get it to the workshop and started opening it up , nicely packaged but was keen to see what was inside Some pics with the standard mug for scale Now I've got to measure up the turbine wheel to determine flow capacity etc etc Cheers John

Hi Guys
The turb exducer is kinda "tight" with a 25 degree tip angle, it might need a tad of clipping to open it up for more flow .
Had to order a 1.25" AF - 32 mm socket for the turb hub nut so that I can disassemble the turbo .
Comp wheel is very nice , shame its so "small" , I might sell it off at a later date to help with the finances .
Cheers John
