Hi Guys
Testrun today, nothing special , thrust was down due to the hot day , very high humidity and low barometric pressure .
A/b refused to light , aborted test , cleaned up sparkplug and she fired off on the next attempt .
My cameraman got some nice footage and is compiling a video .
This was the last test, no more with this engine , its "finished", with all its remaining problems, I just can't seem to get it to behave no matter what I do , I'm not wasting any more energy on it :-(
Cheers John

Bummer, not fun to quit a project on a sour note. What kind of numbers were you hoping for with this engine, and how far off were they? Since you are pushing the limits so hard with your engines that you passed that sign a mile ago, would this engine hum along gently at, say, 80% throttle? Is it the last percentages that is causing the problems?

April 2022 was the first run of my first ever made jet engine. Almost 2 years later, after 5 compressor wheel changes, nozzle creations, ~30 damaged bearings, new diffusor, new ngv, new housing it almost runs perfect. The big help from you, pushed me to build my engine. Thank you😁😁😁 I will ask you some questions tomorrow😉 Andy

Hi Ralph
Yep , I'll post some pics of the bits , its interesting how well the flametube looks , I gave it a spray with some exhaust pipe spray can and it hasn't burnt off .
I've been doing some searching on the Net about tractor pulling and theres a competition Class using 5inch inducered turbos, probably why theres so many different ones made by KTS , it seems that 80 psi of boost is normal , with 95-100 psi being fed into the turbo from the exhaust manifold , theres not a lot of info available but I'll keep searching.
If all these KTS wheels are for tractor pulling then they'll all be designed for very high pressure ratios ...............I might need to do the numbers for my engine if I ran her up to 70 psi like Andy .
Cheers John

My friend has a class-winning tractor, I believe they have an hx80 based turbo. Last I was told, they were around 120psi and ~100-105k rpms. Calculated comp efficiency was ~55%, they use more water than fuel going down the track.

LOL................thats even worse :-(
Yep , lotsa spray nozzles squirting water all over the place , some interesting stuff being done by them though to keep things alive .
They like the ether sprays to get the engines to fire up ...........heh heh , they actually aren't that far removed from us DIYérs :-)

Hi Guys
Engine reassembly progressing slowly ..............no hurry now :-)
The IGV in the bellmouth has been removed so that I can get some data as to its effectiveness.
Replaced a few screws and o'rings that were looking "tired" from all the assembly/disassembly's.
Might have a look at the injector positioning to see if theres a reason for my different TOTs .
Cheers John
