Hi Mark
LOL, I thought you'd appreciate the sturdy construction.
I'll get one in the Post to Andrew so you can go have a look :-)
Quality is excellent , I'm happy, its been a bit of an ordeal but now that they are "in the hand", I'm certain they'll do the job nicely .
Cheers John

Hi Mark
Yep , I've learnt a few "lessons" , do all business through the Alibaba Trade Assurance Site , with all correspondence through it as well , no PMs ..................and double check everything and have a "Paper Trail" to cover your ass , Alibaba Trade Assurance seems to be very well run , they keep an eye on Traders to keep then "honest" .
For a while there I didn't think I'd ever see the wheels , but in the end it came good , I'm happy with the wheels , they're just normal turbo wheels which shouldn't give me any hassles.
I'll get the wheel in the Post hopefully tomorrow or Friday .
Cheers John

Hi Guys A bit more progress , the flametube's IRW ( inner rear wall) has been made , needed to modify some old dies from the 9/94 engine to make it. Because there won't be any evap tubes to worry about I can spread the holes around the entire edge rather than only between evap tubes , I went with 5.5mm X 36 of to provide not too much penetration as the annulus at that point is getting rather narrow at only ~1 inch wide , the outer wall will be able to have twin rows of staggered holes of a similar size to provide very good coverage and minimise mixing times before getting into the NGV and wheel . Work is slow at present , had my first Covid shot last week and its given me a bad dose of "man flu" , but coming good at last Cheers John

Hi Guys I've been on the lathe slowly carving away at a ring of 12 mm plate CR12 ( low grade stainless) to make the rear NGV wall that also is the rear wall of the flametube and off which the remainder of the flametube will be mounted The turb wheels exducer shroud and jetpipe will be bolted to the wall , with a slipjoint on the NGV outlet stub Just need to drill and tap the mounting for the jetpipes 6 X 5mm screws and it'll be time to start on the "front wall" of the NGV , at least its a couple of inches smaller in diameter even though same 12 mm plate , so should make turning it up a tad easier and quicker , I've aleady made a huge pile of curly stainless shavings and used up a couple of carbide cutting insets , but the NGV is always the worst job in making an engine , so the sooner its finished the better :-) Cheers John

Hi Mark
Not too bad , but my old lathe has its "limitations" :-(
It was just a slow job taking 0.010" at a time , I left it ~11.5mm thick at the exducer shroud mount , then ~7.5 mm thick where the vanes will be welded on , then back to ~3.5mm for the rest of the radial section with a 4mm thick rim flange 11.5mm wide to screw the FT outer wall over .
Its a little heavier than I'd like, but the "containment" will be better , unfortunately the bigger they get the heavier they become .
Cheers John

Hi Mark 208 mm dia front wall of NGV turned up. Had to weld on a "ring" for shaft tunnel alignment , the 12mm plate wasn't thick enough to accomodate it , only just thick enough for the piston ring seal bore , the ring is positioned close to the inner edge . Next job is fitting to the rotary table to machine the 18 "flats" on the rim to aid in getting the cutoff saw to enter square and not wander . Slowly slowly its coming together Cheers John

Hi Mark LOL.............I couldn't wait for a new belt , so sorta patched up the old one , originally it was a 3 ply "Balata??" belt but its been delaminating over the decades from the oil sprays and was down to a 1 ply when it broke Thankfully there was just enough adjustment left for me to fold the single ply back on itself and restaple it back together with the original alligator clips and pin , I'm keeping my fingers crossed Cheers John
