Got the bike yesterday. I’m working on the motor position. I’m thinking of mounting it up really high so you can see it through the frame where it’s open on the sides. This will get the intake away from the front tire and the electronics will go under the gas tank and under the turbine there will be huge room for a tank. The exhaust I made needs work, I tried the old exhaust and I think if I turned the exits around it would look cool with the dual exhaust. Check out the 2 pics, tell me what you all think? I’m really liking the idea of mounting the motor up high the only thing wrong with the motor being up high is the gearbox-chain position looks like shit. I’ll have to break that up/hide it with some covers. If this thing doesn’t have the look then I’m wasting my time. Chris I'm thinking of letting my Daughters boyfriend drive the thing. He's like 6'3 a big boy!

Cool build! A tad lighter than my old jet-pocketbike...

The registration for Speed Weekend is open by the way, you know you have to race this thing do you?

The bike should be small enough to fit in a large suitcase so I'll just check it as baggage. That would look fucked up- a little turbine ice racer. Where can I find a registration form? What date is it?

The problem is that all information is in Swedish on the landracing.se homepage, send an email to info@Landracing.se and explain what you are up to. The guy in charge is named Glenn Ocklund and he is very positive to our jet builds so there should be no problem as long as you follow the general safety rules. Ask him for John Ellwood´s phone number if you want some help with registration and such, he is one of the regulars at the race and is a Brit who lives in Sweden so he speaks both languages. He race a home built motorcycle and some hybrid rocket contraption fuelled by nitrous oxide and toffee candy... ;D We haven´t talked it over in the team yet who will come and who will not so I have no idea how much room there will be in the sleeping wagon, but in case it gets crowded one or two can sleep in the truck so we should be able to squeeze you in. I have my second kid coming exactly that month the race is (11-12 march) so I cannot promise that I can be there.

Work picked up so play time is rare but this is what I have so far. The shaft tunnel for the free turbine had some insulation on it. it was some kind of white insulation with metal backing. it was all oil soaked and deteriorating. What can i use in it's place? I have some aluminized fiberglass but i'm worried it wont hold up. I have good airflow around there, it's not like it's stuffed inside the nose of a model plane I wonder if I really need it?

Shortly after this video, i took it to the street. It gathers speed quite nicely. i geared it to 47 mph to be safe and that was a waste of time. I'm gearing it for 90, the sucker pulls like a freight train and temps are looking really good.

I need to inspect the gearbox but after a few rides it's really smooth now and I want to ride it more! Anders, I'm serious- I'm putting some sheet meal screws in the tires and I'm coming to ice race with you!

ok I locked up the front brake and gave it some gas and it started smoking the rear tire and then went right into wheelhop! I got out of it and thought oh shit if that didnt kill the gearbox then nothing will. I tore it down. the ATF was just slightly dark I guess from the gears breaking in but the gears are really smooth now and all the bearings including the N2 shaft bearings look really good.
I thinkvmore testing is in order and may be I need to be a little more gentile....
