Hello from New Zealand .
Compliments for the season.
Hope you can help me
I have a J85 engine
Specs
General Electric J85-GE-17a
Spec No E1134
Contract No F33657-1659
Serial No GE-E248483
This engine is one of two from a Cessna Dragon Fly that has been restored and is now back in the air here in New Zealand .I have access to the other engine if required for any parts I require.
I have been approached by a Air museum .
www.classicflyersnz.com/
Asking if I would be interested in restoring the above engine .
Is any one out there able to help with any items I might require so I can complete this engine to a show room display only. BUT if there are parts (non air worthy is Ok) that you might have hidden away under a work bench that could be used to get the thing to start, idle speed only then more the better.
Can you let me know if you are able to help me .If so then I will let you know what items we might require. I Am soon to get a full set of manuals etc so hopefully there will be a parts book included .
I do know that the Starter/generator, oil, fuel and hydraulic pumps and some pipe work are missing from this engine due to them being part of the airframe .
I am not particularly interested to fitting up all the driven elements to the drive gear box. Just the important parts like fuel, oil and starter motor .
I have approached General electric as to information for this engine but as I am not classed as end user? they are not prepared to assist me ! Is there any possible way to find out a service history re this engine ?
Any help that you can offer would be much appreciated. I would make sure that your company would get full recognition in the appropriate way if help is forth coming .
A am not, nor do I, nor the museum intend to use this item for any other use but as for display purposes only .
It will be not be fitted to any device that could be considered to be of a weapon of war .
Thank you for your time.
