Hello all,i found a holset a hx82,it has a 94mm compressor inducer, turbine exducer of 112mm but the turbine housing is size 25 in holset language,by pictures the housing look a bit tight but it is also a single scroll turbine housing....my worries is if it would be too tight, would the engine go to surge then? Best regards/Stephan Höglund

Hi Stephan
It should be OK , 25 (sq cm) = 2500 sq mms = 4 sq ins , I used 3000 sq mms as the NGV throat area of my engines using the 98 mm inducered TV94 comp wheel .
Cheers John

Hi
if the PR between volute and turbine should be equal I get a throat area of 34.6 cm^2 when I calculate it with a mass flow of 1.1 kg/s. So in theory it is a bit small. But in the real world it is wiser to stick to the words of the more experienced members like John.
Regards
Matthias

I also found a hx82 with 100mm compressor inducer and 110mm turbine exducer with a 41 housing That one seems quite good. Sizes and ratios seem to fit. I already bought something from this seller in the past. He is located in Poland. My experiences with him are positive. Also this HX82 is relatively „cheap“. Sometimes I think that people living in the US or Australia are blessed with a larger offer of huge turbochargers without having to pay an equivalent to 1000€. As you already mentioned also a charger from far east or elsewhere outside Europe would end somewhere around that number after import taxes. Regards Matthias

Regards Matthias Hello Matthias, yes i am looking in on that hx82 also,it is indeed in europe, and it is relatively cheap, the thing that get me worried about that one is the deformation of the compressor inlet, two dents or deformation where that lockring sits, i am worried that housing could be cracked further down in the housing...this turbo was maybe dropped!?

Hi Mark
The 60 kg one is probably a water cooled turb scroll , also the HX83 is high pressure unit , one heavy turbo :-(
Hope you had a good Christmas :-)
Cheers John

Hello Stephan, unfortunately it is to far to go there and have a closer look at it for you. I am located too far in the south of Germany. But maybe another member lives closer to Chobienice which is pretty close behind the Polish border? Regards Matthias
