I may finally be ready to start a turbojet project. I have 2 T18A turbos with the 111mm turbine and 91mm compressor wheels. I want to use both of these units with a single combustor. I have seen some mention of a similar project which had some files posted but have not been able to find them again. I want to draw some flame tube designs to post for evaluation and comment by those more experienced but wanted to ask about the transition from flame tube to turbos. What considerations do I need to make when transitioning from flame tube to turbine housing inlet? Is there a maximum recommended taper? I would like to design the flame tube with a cone shape at the primary end with some or all of the primary airflow passing through the cone section. Is this advisable? Would it be advisable to allow small gaps between the cone and the cylindrical wall of the flame tube to introduce a small amount of air for film cooling or would film cooling this close to the recirculation zone be detrimental?
