Has anyone successfully used a high powered ducted fan as a ram air starter on a diy gt?
The idea seems attractive, no physical connections and the fan could be used for cool down.

They have been used , but best on ball bearing turbos with their low friction , brass bearings with sticky lube really needs a radial compressor leafblower that can produce pressure when airflow through the blower is restricted during spoolup , axial fans have much narrower operating range and are more sensitive to matching with a turbo size
