This is just too awesome to keep unposted here, my friends in Black Hole Racing (roughly translated from swedish) has built a valved pulsjet engine and intend to run the flying mile race with it two weeks from now. They have had some problems getting it started and after some discussions with a very famous valved pulsejet builder figured out that the valve area was too large, I made it there just in time for the test run showed in the video and my gas turbine suddenly became very quiet and gentle when compared to this engine... Hit full screen, 720p and max volume!

Hi Anders
LOL......That "leafblower" operator must have shit himself when she fired up and lurched forward , he probably thought he was going to get swallowed by that huge intake :-)
Congratulations to the guys for an amazing build .
Looking forward to more video .................loved the way she blew the tailpipe extension away .
Cheers John

There should be more video uploaded on youtube as soon as they sober up, we payed them a visit last night with a trunk full of beer and Galliano so they shouldn´t be overly sober yet... =)
They added 25cm to the tailpipe and now it starts and runs without the need for any removable extensions, the sled is apart for painting and the final job on the steering so they should be 100% finished by the time the race starts.
Wish them luck in the commentary field under the youtube clip, they would surely appreciate it. =)

The first run of the weekend, they rolled off the throttle early just to get a feel of the handling at speed.

The second friday run with a helmet cam, apparently they are considered a bit loud since a water glass on the hotel reception desk almost a kilometer away got ripples on the surface, things started to fall down in the speaker booth and car alarms set of here and there... As the text in the video says a hole appeared around a spark plug boss (they made several to test the best ignition location) but it is fixed now so today they will try for a full speed run!

I hope there weren't any really old people from London in the area. They'd probably shit themselves.
I rate this project a 10
well done!

They never ran it again unfortunately, they found more cracks along the valve head weld and the ignition box had vibrated itself to pieces so they threw in the towel. They had a great weekend and were probably the most visited team throughout the whole weekend so they are happy anyway.

that's awesome! everyone had a good time, so who cares if it didn't go again, next time it will, and they'll all be talking about it all over again! Gotta give it to them a little at a time if you want to keep em entertained! Why would someone settle for Golf or Football when they could be out scaring the living shit out of themselves?
