Holy mother of.....
I wonder how mutilated they have to be or if the intent is that they can only be used as scrap metal.
I wonder how much an engine on average cost the winning bidder. I probably don't want to know!

I don't understand it either, they want you to pay them for the privilege of mutilating the engines, you get worthless scrap for your trouble. I can't see what military value those engines could still have or why they couldn't be sold as is.
I bet there's some gov't type behind a desk who thinks its a great idea.
Sad.

it's a export regulation thing...
yes the idea is that you are getting all of that material as scrap, which from the nickel content alone is worth quite a bit
but a total waste of works of art...

Its just to bad you can't convince them the end use will be non military.
Can you imagine if the chinese got ahold of these and put them in some fighter jets? Oh wait they would probably crash shortly after take off lol.
I wonder if its one of those things where you could cut them in half and take the best parts to build a few fully functional ones like people did with the hummers a while back.
But yea i totaly agree, i have a lump in my throat.

We should get Paul Watson and the sea shepherds to to protest this horrible waste. Those jackasses need to leave the whales alone, they're just sea cows what's the problem? They could save the turbines!
