Hi John, Ok took out the spray nozzles both of them are clean then look at the igniter cables no cracks on the ends all good. So the fuel tank needs to be above the engine to give some fuel inline pressure and the manual saying need to have 10 PSI fuel inline pressure, so maybe will need to look at a small fuel pump latter on ? I also drain the fuel filter and there was a bit of crud. Cheers, Mark.

Hi Mark
Yep, a bit of head pressure at the pump inlet to stop any cavitation , even a low pressure auto fuel pump would do the job .
Thats good news about the fuel spray nozzles :-)
Cheers John

Hi John, Did a run on the GTP yesterday as you can see in this vid the fuel pressure gauge went crazy i had the tank a lot higher than the first runs we did. Started on kero and then add some heating oil while the engine was running, she got very smokey so shut the engine down. I'll try with the clean oil Next time I'll add ~ 5 liters of petrol to 15 liters of oil and give that a go. youtu.be/awBZGmFSt_4 youtu.be/lqQ2NLu1DOk Cheers, Mark

Wow, she's running mighty smooth Mark, good job!
I was looking at the RPM. Looked to me that it hovered ~9. Is that output shaft RPM or is that percentage?
Keep up the good work!

Thanks Cobrajet, She started up really well to, that's the percentage which stayed at 9 the output shaft RPM is ~6,000. Still need to get the speed control working and hopefully get it to run on heating oil she's very thirsty ~1 liter a minute. Kero not cheap these days.
Cheers, Mark.

Hi Brett, Not yet, i have ~3,000 liters of heating oil to burn so will do some experimenting with the heating oil like to try mixing some mineral turpentine with it and give that a go.
Cheers, Mark.

Hi John, Yeah i did a test on the petrol/heating oil mix the engine kept on running but very smoky, that was with 10% petrol to 20 liters of heating oil. Now for more testing i can try say 10 liters heating oil and 5 liters of petrol???
Cheers, Mark.

@ pitciblack scotland: I just purchased a GTP70 from tubularfab who posted some photos back in June 2012 (page 2 of this discussion). He indicates it is 160hp output. Can you confirm this? Second, could you clarify what type of component each of the circles indicate on the wiring diagram you posted on page 4 back in 2013, and update the wiring diagram. I am hoping to put this turbine in a Rotorway Scorpion homebuilt helicopter that currently has a Mazda RX7 rotary engine.(poor mans turbine) Would appreciate if you could coach me along as I work on this project, and really would like a source for the military manuals for this turbine. Many thanks, Bill Biggs Temple Tx

G'day Bill, Ok that's the same model as mine. I can not confirm if they are 160hp, the seller told me it is but have no way to test it so it would be pot luck if it is. As for the wiring diagram we had to make changes to it because the engine has been modified, looks like your engine has not been modified so getting it up and running should be easy Are you going to set up a basic control panel for test runs I have a full manual on our model engine which i can send out a copy by mail as i have no way to scan all of the manual. Can you PM me with your email address i can send you some diagrams of how to set up the engine,it's a different model but basically the same. Cheers, Mark.
