Been looking for a winter project. I know a few here are into the high power airsoft guns. I've seen one tear stuff up. This hanging from a quadcopter w night vision first person setup would be a riot! I think as long as the barrel centerline stayed in line w the craft cg it would be stable. Maybe a 5th channel elevation for the gun?

I've got one very sexy and heavily modified Quad and another trainer, will post some pics soon. one shows a few of my fabrication skills If i can help let me know, must remember efficiency is key every gram counts. We started out with APM 1 flew kinda ok, few crashes then had a slip with a voltmeter after adding a current monitor and let out some of the magic smoke got a preorder apm 2, flew once crashed major GPS issues. Waited on positive feed back for code ect. that changed frequently but with little positive results especially when not paired with 3DR frame then APM 2.5 talk started so we dropped it bought a DJI NAZA so impressed a few weeks latter got the WOOKONG M single waypoint 900mhz, and here recently got the newly released video link. NO CRASHES to date (about 6 months) . WE went a little nuts on the first bird its a heavily modified X650 and second one we ordered with a F450 with NAZA. The X650 runs the WKM now and it ROCKS hands down. I can give you more details about APM problems if you like, but you got to really want it if you go that route. WKM totally plug and play ;D Justin

yeah some pics! i did some tests w the hero2 hd and it will output composite while recording as long as it has the latest firmware. We were going to send low res composite back for POV flying and do all the HD capture right at the camera.

Composite works great out the gopro the only thing is the fisheye effect makes it hard to judge distance on close maneuvers. We run a 900mhz i believe 800 milliwatt on the F450. We used to run it on the X650 but the WKM data link is 900mhz too 1.5 watt:) so on it now we use the DJI 5.8ghz video link. Haven't range tested the vid link yet but will do soon. DJI products are awesome and well packaged with great connectors but very pricey. Ultimately your flying a very expensive bird your proud of and reliability is key.

Will post some photos soon as she is back together. Had some more mods to do. She is an ever evolving beast Were at like rev 6 or 7 now ;D Might redo the landing gear again made her real low to the ground around rev3 and now I really kinda need the height for more antennas ;D she transmits on 900mhz, 2.4ghz, and 5.8ghz all at one time 8-)and we can't forget the GPS bands we receive too. You're way ahead of me, I'm just planning on starting w a cheapass flight controller and cheap everything else. Then it will be loosely held together w zip ties hopefully when it crashes the zip ties will take the hit. I've heard of lens options for the gopro, they have them for the iphone so it shouldn't be a hard thing to make. My gopro case is flame polished.

Chris, Thats not a bad approach, that was originally why we bought the x650 the frame was only like $220 and the APM $200. But as we put in more work and love in to the machine it got bigger and badder most of the mods we made except the arm ends they are summit ss pieces but like $25 a piece. the real cost is the electronics and time. The WKM's functionality is great and proven. My dad's been into open source a long time and really loves it and that was the initial appeal for the APM and if you get it working should have the functionality of a WKM but the code isn't really there and what is available isn't always good. The APM's though work great for planes though from what all I've seen. You should check out this link www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1555543&page=439 it is to the X8 flying wing thread and it is a very impressive plane. Will reassembly the X650 tonight and post some pics:) Justin

Sorry for the lack of pics i feel quite bad about this if you have any interest in this still I can show actually post some stuff. things have changed on it alot! Made new legs for more ground clerance and run one of dji's gimbals and let me tell you it is a bad ass!! survived a good 60ft drop from us over proping the 650 frame and avroto 2814 motors with Carbon 15'5s LOL the T motor blades are all but bullet proof they made it too after jamming to the hilt in hard MS dirt.
