Well I have had my turbine sitting in my workshop for the last couple of months, as I am at a standstill. I still cannot remove the front air intake, I have emailed several people who have worked on or built palouste turbines, and have had no replys, I have also contacted several aviation company's for parts, which they have advertised for sale, but when I phone, its sorry but we haven't got anything. Im thinking of giving up on the whole thing as im so disheartened by the attitudes of some people Attachments:

I am sorry to hear about your problems, a quick googling gave this result. I assume you´ve seen it.

Hi yes I have seen this diagram, I have the manual for it at home, and shows the full rebuild diagrams, the trouble is I cannot remove the front bearing support ring, the manual is a bit vague in some places, so im not sure if its pressed in or has seized in the case, I also need to find out if the bearing is pressed onto the mainshaft and if so how much pressure is going to have to be applied to remove it. As for the aviation company's, its like there not interested in making money and only want to sell to the big boys, and finding an air bypass valve and 2 torch igniters anywhere else is futile

Air bypass is optional and can be blocked off. The ignitors can be made or use different style, like I did on the afterburner ignitor.
Giving up is NOT allowed! We will make it happen.

Hi thanks, Unfortunately I need to have the air bypass valve as the compressor will be supplying the afterburner air, and I will need this to open at a predetermined P.R. I did think that I may be able to make a torch igniter but I cant think of an insulating material that could stand the heat, I thought about using 2 concentric tubes, an outer tube with a few holes drilled at the end to allow mixing air to enter and provide the negative and an inner to carry propane and the positive, and spark between the 2

Are you using the air bleed to reduce the amount of exhaust air? The after burner normally is used at idle for fire and thunder shows and WFO for power.
Vent fuel into AB pipe and lite with a hot streak shot through the burner section, using a timer set at .03 tenths of a second. To long on the Hot Streak will run your temps up.

Thanks for the info on torch igniters, I will use your design. I wont use hot streak ignition, as i think that is a bad idea, but I can use another torch igniter for A/B ignition. The air bleed is because my turbine is a turbo compressor and produces vastly more air than the turbine can cope with. My turbine can start ok with the air bleed blocked off, and self sustains at 6000 rpm with a tot of 670'c, however if I was to accelerate to over 18,000 then the compressor would surge badly. Im not interested in flame shows, the afterburner will be designed purely for maximum power and will be either off upto 18000 rpm or bleed 18000 rpm to full throttle with the A/B being only lit at 35000 rpm limit. However I still need to remove that air intake, I have ordered another type of puller, and I will give that a try and see if I can shift that damned bearing support rig

I got this engine from Richard Brown, it is the spare core for the boost palouste. Im doing something very similar, but a lot lighter, less complicated, lower, and hopefully faster

Any news on his jetpack? I used to follow the progress on his homapage but I had to stop since the update rate was so painfully slow that it was becoming depressing.

He had made some sort of rig to help start and test the jet pack, when I went over there, but I got the impression he was mainly working on his new jet bike
