hello all! i have this HOLSET HX60W which i build a turbojet Engine of, i saw postings about turbine Wheel materials on the Yahoo diy site, where it was stated that the Wheels made of inconel 713c is more durable and can go up to 960 degrees Celsius!, thats fine if possible! but when i search at HOLSET for info on what material, they also states that it is made of inconel 713c to last up to 760 degrees Celsius according to the new tier 5 and 6 emissions demands... so how high egt temps can one go with inconel Wheels??....slightly higher maybe?...say around 750 degrees Celsius or higher or what? cheers/stephan

Hi Stephan
The emission demands with relation to temperatures will be in respect to what pollutants comes out of the exhaust pipe not what the turbine wheel can cope with, pollutants vary depending on the combustion temperature .
If the wheel is made of 713C its capable of coping with T I Ts of 1,050 C under certain conditions , but probably better to keep the T I Ts to ~950 C , so a TOT in the jetpipe of maybe 750 - 775 C at full power .
Cheers John
