Its a nice rendering, I'd want to see the real thing first, or at least a photo. Also, $700 seems pretty cheap. My guess is if a micro-turbine manufacture was making these, you wouldn't see much change from a $3-4K outlay. I could be wrong tho, I often am, just ask the Missus Regards Steve.

But if you read the text you are paying for a set of drawings and nothing else, feels like a scam to sell plans for an engine without any proof that it will actually work...

It's quite funny I only now found this thread... I may put some light on that issue. I have designed that engine for one of my customers some years ago. We actually built the gas generator and found it to work principally with not too bad parameters but requiring considerable improvement in some details (what's to be expected with a project as complex as this). The mechanical configuration made it very awkward to work on / modify this machine and disassembly / reassembly always took a long time. Finally, another design I conducted before for the same customer, evolved into the same power class so the new engine was (unfortunately but understandably) shelfed, making a nice and very expensive paperweight. During design procedure, an engineering company had been involved to produce manufacturing drawings of the components from the 3D designs I released. We found out that this company finally offered these plans on ebay and drew our consequences. One interesting side aspect is that we built the first prototype engine with a high strength glass tube outer shroud to be able to see the combustion inside the reverse flow combustor. Of course, eventually the obvious happened - the glass tube let go at some elevated RPM and send shrapnels trough the laboratory. Fortunately noone was hit/hurt and we moved on to a full metal engine casing...

Hi Thomas, Thanks for the photos. Any data from the engine testing??
Cheers, Mark.

Hi Mark,
sorry but since this was contract work and I signed an NDA, I'm currently unable to release any more information on that design. I just added this information to explain the origin of the design and to make sure nobody will buy these "plans" if they should ever surface on eBay or elsewhere again and believe he's getting something he can directly turn into a full-featured small turboshaft. Moreover, the seller had no intellectual property in the plans so the whole deal would not have been legal.
The next time I'm in touch with my customer, I'll ask for permission to publish more detialed information and maybe some more photos. He may actually agree since he's not intending to revive this design due to its complexity.
Cheers, Thomas
