Hi I'm new here so please be nice I installed a 'Extreme Turbines x24' mini kero turbine into a model boat I had in my garage. I sealed all the electronics etc in a waterproof compartment and mounted the engine on a couple of nifty mounts. It stated fine and ran great on several bench starts until the RPM sensor failed So In diagnosing the problem I first checked fuel supply and solenoids, they seemed fine. The FADEC has several 'test' functions which is good. So when I finally figured out that the RPM was reading zero on the handset on startup it became clear that the sensor was buggered. I got a replacement sensor and installed it yesterday and put everything back together and re-sealed the electronics compartment.
I started it up today and it gets to idle speed (38000rpm) and sits there happily.
BUTWhen I try to throttle past idle it starts to go ok but soon dies at about 42000rpm It does the cool down thing then displays 'flameout'
It starts again no problem and gets to idle but won't let me accelerate past about 42000rpm
I was working fine before I had to remove the rpm sensor and I tested the fuel pump and solenoids etc..
The fuel lines seem to be flowing fuel, both to the primer (glow plug) and then to the main supply. I am sure at idle it is being fed by the main supply which is not obstructed because I tested the fuel pump and it pumped kero into the engine.
I thought it may have been the temperature probe so I have tried different lengths inside the exhaust but still the same problem.
I am wondering if anyone would have any ideas ?
Cheers

I'm no expert by a long shot but I remember seeing a show on discovery channel about a team trying to beat the land speed world record by using a jet engine powerd car. They had the same problems you are describing with their engine and it eventuelly turned out to be, I think, they swithed a + and - wire somewhere (like the fuelpump). It's a long shot but it shouldn't take more than a oouple of mins to check.

Hi Pookie Welcome to the Forum :-) Is your throttle ramp up speed too fast , a sudden increase in fuel could be causing problems , maybe slow down the ramp up rate . Have you had a chat to Brett Smith at Ausjets www.ausjets.com/ , he's a Member here , lives in Sydney ............a very approachable guy with a wealth of knowledge about setting up Fadecs and diagnosing problems with RC micro engines Cheers John

does it smoke when it flames out? is your fuel tank above your pump? Is the fuel foaming? do you have an air separator in the fuel like??
