Agnes has that look in her eye. Does she know how to start the land speed bike?

John: There shouldn't be any restriction except for the freepower turbine downstream, in fact the JU-01 NGV is a bit larger than it is supposed to be. I'll test it some more next week, might be that it will loosen up when the oil gets a bit warmer. Agnes has that look in her eye. Does she know how to start the land speed bike? Gods no, but I will have to watch her closely when I have the electric starter fitted.... :-)

I started the bike today to see if everything is ok for One Mile, I didn´t have a chance to test the water injection since the bike almost took off at high idle despite a locked rear brake. Cheers! /Anders

Hi Anders
LOL............that was an "OH SHIT" moment ,.......... heh heh , had the same thing happen to me with the TV84 bike ..........they have a mind of their own , a tad too much idling power and they just want to wander off :-)
We can almost start counting down the days now until we get to see her at full song on the runway ...............we'll all be praying for fine weather.
Cheers John

Your daughter is so cute. Actually I have two of them equally cute, so no sleep for papa and mama 10 years from now when the moped carried suitors start circling the house... Cheers John It sure was, it would have been a disaster if the side stand dug down so the bike ended up on its side. I am really looking forward to testing the water injection, not sure though if I should start at the lowest flow that still produce a spray pattern or if I should go for the higher 1L/min injection flow. Last year the race almost rained away so I really hope it will be better weather this year, with only one race each year we need every minute of run time there is.

Hi Anders
Full flow , 1 lpm - 1 kg/min isn't a lot compared to the 75 kgs/min of air ...............variable flow rates are just another thing to go wrong , or forget to readjust at a critical time.
Cheers John

Cheers John Copy that, I have the water pump wired so that the micro switch in the trottle grip activates it. This will give full water flow the second I start trottling the engine up from 0.8bar which is the idle P2 setting, but as I will be revving the engine up quite fast I hope it will keep from drowning during those critical seconds up to full P2.

I printed a little hat for the preheat fan last night, I fear that the small 12v fan might get spun by the passing 300km/h wind and shed its blades into the compressor intake without it... Cheers! /Anders

I was visited today by a jolly bunch of vintage motorcycle riders, they have an annual meeting and this year it happened to be near my place so they booked a jet show. It was a very good opportunity to test the bike a final time before One Mile, it started perfectly and idled at ok temps so I am very satisfied with it! I didn´t take any video of the start but some of the bikers did so I´ll link the video here if any of them post it on internet. Cheers! /Anders

Hi Anders
Bike is looking good :-) ................I hope they all enjoyed the sound of bits whistling around rather than going up and down .
Not long now until the One Mile , I'm getting excited
Cheers John

Hi John, They were very satisfied with the visit, I held a short lecture on how gas turbines works first so they would know how everything worked together and "why the exhaust won´t melt the rear tyre" which is a painfully common youtube comment. I just hope that the weather will be fine, even the slightest drizzle of rain will hold off the race so for once this crappy summer the sun could decide to shine on us. Cheers! /Anders

Only a few days left now before One Mile, I am currently sorting out what I need to bring and getting my head around the upcoming runs. The plan is to do a full throttle run without water injection first and see how the winter mods will affect the performance, hopefully I´ll do a 300+ km/h run. After that I will activate the water injection and if it seems to work when testing it in the pits (I have never tried the water injection) I will do a second run with as much water as I dare and see how it goes. I hope to gain some HP with water so if the engine runs fine I might be able to up the top speed 10-15km/h with it. If so I am getting very close to the 200mph mark so if there is time left I can work on launching the bike at higher boost to get the speeds up faster. Fun fun fun! Wish me luck! Cheers! /Anders

Hi Anders
You should be able to pump a fair bit of injection fluid into the engine , the Allison 250 pumps >1 gallon - 4 litres per minute of 2 parts water 1 part methanol , so you shouldn't have problems with at least 2 litres/min ..................I was pumping ~1.5 lpm of water into my TV84 engine , your airflow is ~1/3rd more .
The Swedish weather is looking reasonable over the weekend , so you should get some good runs in :-)
Stay safe and enjoy yourself .
Cheers John

Ok, good to know if there is time for a follow up run. Then I´ll try my best do drown it and see if that improves top speed. Did you just say "reasonable"?? If the forecast is correct the next weekend will be the hottest one in all summer, 16-17°C and no rain for two days is crazy hot compared to the 12-13°C windy days with the occational drops of rain we´ve had all summer. I forced myself to take a bath one day during vacation and it took hours for my balls to want to show themselves again... Thanks! /Anders
