Well I've just finished reading this thread from start to finish, and I must say I'm impressed. Its a wonder you stayed motivated on the project for so long but it was definitely worth it in the end. I look forward to seeing 400 km/h runs with the JU-02!

Was I ahead of my time when I tried electric start on the twin some four years ago?, motors weren't quite up to it at only 1Kw or so. And was asking a lot for journal bearings. Looks like you might have solved it Anders :-) I will say though, I did try three different coupling methods, friction bendix - overheated and 'blued' the compressor nuts. Mating bendix but it just bounced and finally miniature centrifugal clutch; showed promise but needed more motor power. I know you'll figure the sequencing but in my head I'm thinking a very slow turn as the fork pushes out followed by a ramp up in motor speed... :-) Hi Nick! Yup, a slow turning of the starter while engaging the sleeve and then full power. I spent an hour today improving the flow around the starter bracket, a new and smaller solenoid bracket and some grinding made it look a bit less restrictive. I also countersunk the M4 screws so the sleeve won´t hit the heads while retracted. Cheers! /Anders Hi Anders, Did you ever get around testing this electric motor to strt any of your engines? Thanks

Nope, I suddenly remembered that I strongly dislike all things electrical and shelfed it.
